Title: Custom stage 1+ having problems Post by: robek85 on May 29, 2020, 02:00:26 AM Hello. I hope im writing in correct part of forum.
I've read a big part of this forum, s4wiki, FR and much more ... Without this forum i wouldnt even dream of making my tune. Winols guide, logger, tunning guides and all of the amazing stuff found on here are simply amazing. I drive a skoda 1.8t 4x4 me7.5 2002. Initaly had stage 1 done local tuner which put out nice 210hp and some 320Nm tq. Which was very nice. Eventually did some more work on the car and wanted more. After installing KO4 and lots of trial and error managed to get a steady decent logs with up to 185g/s of map where my oem injectors came to 100% idc. Still waiting for S3 ones to arrive - delayed due to covid. In the mean time had come to a problem i cannot resolve. Boost cuts out after reaching 150g/s in every gear and cant find a reason for it. That's the reason i came here for help. I have a ton of logs but no one indicates what could a problem be. Have added two logs in third gear for comparison. Like i said im out of ideas what to do. Im leaning towards hardware issue but havent found one yet. Thank you for any kind of help Title: Re: Custom stage 1+ having problems Post by: adam- on May 29, 2020, 02:06:33 AM File does not open in ECUxPlot?
Title: Re: Custom stage 1+ having problems Post by: robek85 on May 29, 2020, 02:09:56 AM Huh i'm using Log View on line. Should i change to different format. Its .csv
Title: Re: Custom stage 1+ having problems Post by: robek85 on May 29, 2020, 02:49:54 AM Did some quick search.
I never managed to use ECuxPlot cause of problems with Java :-\. Will get it done asap. Atached logs dont have a "gangi" and "accelerator pedal position". Will make new logs with those included. Thank you for you time. Title: Re: Custom stage 1+ having problems Post by: BlackT on May 29, 2020, 04:02:54 AM IRL and IOP. Did you tune this maps?
Title: Re: Custom stage 1+ having problems Post by: robek85 on May 29, 2020, 04:07:45 AM Yes. Regarding k04 had to do a lot of work keeping boost on track. this is where i tried using rs4 and s3 maps as a guide, and with the help of me7wizzard incorporated some other maps like IOP and IRL.
If you had a look at my log it can be seen when boost falls off for some reason its not ecu pulling boost - pids are trying to add boost back. Title: Re: Custom stage 1+ having problems Post by: robek85 on May 29, 2020, 05:42:55 AM Hello.
Just came home from work. Managed to do few pulls. Overboosting alot:) (used an older unrefined map which ran good two weeks ago) Hoppefully it sheds some more light. Gangi and wdkba included. Have to pick up my little one now. Title: Re: Custom stage 1+ having problems Post by: nyet on May 29, 2020, 10:11:50 AM Please read the stickies regarding logs
Those are useless. Title: Re: Custom stage 1+ having problems Post by: robek85 on May 29, 2020, 11:39:43 AM Will do. Still have a lot to learn.

Title: Re: Custom stage 1+ having problems Post by: robek85 on June 01, 2020, 06:25:56 AM Hello.
Managed to do 3 pulls today but turns out only one usable. Have managed to successfully run ECUxPlot - and like it already :) Thank you for input. Title: Re: Custom stage 1+ having problems Post by: robek85 on June 01, 2020, 02:21:02 PM Added another short run. If someone can diagnose anything or has a sugestion what more to log to help diagnose i will do my best to help.

Title: Re: Custom stage 1+ having problems Post by: robek85 on June 21, 2020, 11:19:14 PM Hello, me again.
Have been really busy last few weeks, but still done some work on car. I installed new n75, measured fuel pressure (38psi on idle, 60psi on full boost, 43psi-FPR in line disconnected), tried with MAF disconnected - same result. Tried different maps but problem persist. Still getting cut. Made a new map from scratch. Log attached - can anyone diagnose this? Thank you Title: Re: Custom stage 1+ having problems Post by: aef on June 22, 2020, 05:00:08 AM show your fueling maps pls
reduce ldrxn to have a boost request from 1.4bar to 1bar for example.... its just a k04, dont punish him Title: Re: Custom stage 1+ having problems Post by: robek85 on June 22, 2020, 10:50:11 AM Hello.
There isn't much to show from my fueling. I don't have older logs compatible with ecuxplot, but the ones i do have show this turbo can flow and hold boost. it would flow even more with s3 injectors(ordered but ebay lost them!? ordering second batch!!) few weeks ago car just started losing power at certain rpms...thats what my problem is - this is this bump your showing. happens in every gear between 4k and 5k rpm. Title: Re: Custom stage 1+ having problems Post by: nyet on June 22, 2020, 04:10:59 PM the ones i do have show this turbo can flow and hold boost. That isn't how you can tell of your turbos are in their efficiency (let alone safe operating) range. Finally, post a current ME7Log. Title: Re: Custom stage 1+ having problems Post by: robek85 on June 22, 2020, 08:41:26 PM I do have to agree with you nyet.
Two latest logs attached. Title: Re: Custom stage 1+ having problems Post by: nyet on June 22, 2020, 09:25:58 PM Thats not cut.
Thats a huge boost leak, intake collapse, or DV failure Title: Re: Custom stage 1+ having problems Post by: robek85 on June 22, 2020, 11:35:43 PM Hello.
OK, i can install a small camera in engine bay to see if tip is collapsing. Will do another pressure test at 25 psi. I see a pattern when comparing logs... attached pic. Looks like some kinda of a limit (cannot tell what is causing it). Plus two new fresh logs from this morning. Title: Re: Custom stage 1+ having problems Post by: aef on June 22, 2020, 11:44:12 PM You have a silicone intake hose? Stock air filter housing? Cold Air hose attached?
Please post a picture and try with reduced ldrxn. With less boost, less airmass, it may not be collapsing. Title: Re: Custom stage 1+ having problems Post by: nyet on June 22, 2020, 11:47:51 PM WGDC and throttle plate angle would indicate otherwise. Boost is flat because WG is locked at 95% trying to do something, anything to get the boost up.
DV failure, intake collapse or boost leak. Or possibly bad N75 or WG actuator but I can't see how that would cause boost to suddenly drop out. Either that or somebody left a MBC plumbed into your WG line setup. Title: Re: Custom stage 1+ having problems Post by: robek85 on June 23, 2020, 12:34:46 AM Hey aef.
Yes i only replaced TIP to silicon one to be able connect K04 , otherwise oem plumbing. I did remove n249, n112 years ago. Still left them electricaly connected. Custom downpipe, no cat, standard backbox. Standard SMIC-> outside watersprayed. I have mapped out rear O2 sensor and secondary air inj. I have tried many maps, lowest one was with max 150 LRDNX still same problem but at some higher rpm. I managed to do a full pull with part throttle at only 10psi and have not encountered this problem. Even if i accelerate slowly up to 5k rpm and then go wide open still bogs in same way. Nyet i do all the work on car - no MCB there for sure. I did invest in new oem n75 last week - still the same. Tested WG with line attached no leaks there. This problem only started few weeks ago with no hardware changes on car. Yup ECU is doing its job but the overall output is not there!? Will make a video of TIP first. Then i can swap DV with one from a friends car, and do another boost pressure test at higher boost. Thank you for all your inputs, will report back with results. Title: Re: Custom stage 1+ having problems Post by: aef on June 23, 2020, 02:36:34 AM You can modify the underside or run without underside of the filter housing.
The vaccum on the intake side should be less and the silicone house shoult not collaps. Title: Re: Custom stage 1+ having problems Post by: nyet on June 23, 2020, 10:37:09 AM Add back in your N249 and replace the DV. It is likely triggering when it shouldn't. It could be your N249 deletion was done incorrectly.
There is literally no reason to delete the N249. Title: Re: Custom stage 1+ having problems Post by: robek85 on June 23, 2020, 11:54:10 PM Hello,
n249 was removed back in 2014 when i was cleaning oil vapor tubing. car drove normally from then on. wasnt able to record a video but small camera mounted in engine bay didnt show any deformation from TIP. tommorow im leaving for a short wacation so had some other stuff to handle yesterday. when im back i should be able to mount gopro to be 100% sure. i had another look at recent logs. where does this boost request come from? why only on one graph? Title: Re: Custom stage 1+ having problems Post by: nyet on June 24, 2020, 02:49:45 AM where does this boost request come from? why only on one graph? No idea, you didn't post the rest of the log that goes with it. Doubtful it is even remotely related, don't chase ghosts. If you can't find any wg problems (e.g. cracking when it shouldn't) or anything else you have a much more serious problem, like cracked exh mani or blown turbo. Title: Re: Custom stage 1+ having problems Post by: royce5950 on June 28, 2020, 06:47:52 AM I can help you sort out the java issues? what OS are you using? 8.1? 10? You gotta get ecuXplot working correctly man..
Title: Re: Custom stage 1+ having problems Post by: robek85 on July 02, 2020, 11:50:43 PM Hello,
Back from family wacations... Didn't have time to do new diagnostics. However i have searched many colapsing TIP online and looks like Im looking at wrong part of tip (dumbass). So I did put up some reinforcement (plastic straps) to my lower part of TIP (very very inaccessible) and boost loss got even worse. So infact it should be colapsing. Will do my best to find an angle to make a video of it - but very tight spot. @royce5950 thank you for input - had another look at guide and installed correct java version - have been using ecuXplot for couple of weeks now and it really is a great tool now a question - has anyone successfully reinforced TIP to prevent it colapsing? - i cant even get my fingers near turbo intake. i had to install turbo with TIP already mounted cause of the lack of space. Title: Re: Custom stage 1+ having problems Post by: robek85 on July 06, 2020, 01:02:41 AM Hello,
some good news here. I made some really basic plastic reinforcement of my TIP (anyone selling TIP?) and my boost is back, second set of injectors is coming so finally moving somewhere :) Car is still slower than it was before TIP colapsing began so have to change tune a bit and lower boost in upper rpm before i injectors arrive. Log to compare attached. Title: Re: Custom stage 1+ having problems Post by: nyet on July 06, 2020, 09:51:05 AM Your boost request is really odd. Definitely avoid large dips, it really causes havoc in the PID.
Title: Re: Custom stage 1+ having problems Post by: robek85 on July 06, 2020, 11:19:11 PM i have also noticed this. so went to look at map again and realized i screwed up kfmiop and kfmirl (adjusted kfmiop to kfmirl). Looks better now. still have to lower load in upper region before bigger injectors arrive.
have been looking for new TIP - my K04 inlet size is 50mm so im not sure if all TIPs in the market can accomodate this. car is still slow. log attached Title: Re: Custom stage 1+ having problems Post by: nyet on July 06, 2020, 11:48:13 PM Your req is still a mess. Your IRL is completely wrong pretty much everywhere.
Also how did you manage to not log actual boost You're also way over injector limit, you're going to break something. You will want to hold off running this much boost, but it also means you're sort of wasting your time fixing IRL/IOP now, you're just going to have to redo it completely. Title: Re: Custom stage 1+ having problems Post by: robek85 on July 07, 2020, 05:13:35 AM hello, yes i deleted some values and boost was on of them(accidentally), but still have vpssplg_w to compare in there.
will do last two rows of kfmirl again and should be fine. injectors have arrived 8) finnaly Title: Re: Custom stage 1+ having problems Post by: robek85 on July 07, 2020, 10:47:48 PM hey,
injectors are installed, map tweaked, first test result is attached. still high idc on top + TIP colapsing again (at 6k rpm). ordering new TIP today. Title: Re: Custom stage 1+ having problems Post by: nyet on July 07, 2020, 11:44:22 PM That actually looks pretty damn good (except for the TIP collapsing part :))
Looking forwards to what you end up with once you get the inlet issue solved. Title: Re: Custom stage 1+ having problems Post by: nyet on July 07, 2020, 11:46:14 PM However, people usually ride LDRXN not IRL at WOT. Up to you of course.
Title: Re: Custom stage 1+ having problems Post by: robek85 on July 08, 2020, 02:51:38 AM @nyet
Thank you, for all the comments and really advisable inputs. Makes you work even harder ;). Especially when comments come from a relly great person like yourself. Also a great thanks to all who contributed to help me get over this inlet problem. Will definitely report back with some more logs... Title: Re: Custom stage 1+ having problems Post by: robek85 on July 09, 2020, 10:36:15 PM Hello again,
i couldnt wait till new TIP arrives, so went modifing the one that is colapsing - took me two long hours to strengthen it enough. Did it with two clamp and metal shim around colapsing part. It works like a charm. Now to the next thing. Have started adding more boost and in the last run i have noticed slight oscilation of boost. I can see from log P-part of pids is moving slightly? could it be it messing my boost? car feels great to drive... two logs to compare (second with oscilation) thanks Title: Re: Custom stage 1+ having problems Post by: nyet on July 10, 2020, 11:01:17 AM DO NOT RUN THIS FILE
Forget about the oscillations for the moment, you are totally out of fuel. Fix that first, then we'll come back to the oscillations. Title: Re: Custom stage 1+ having problems Post by: robek85 on July 11, 2020, 11:14:34 PM Thanks for the warning.
Reduced the boost to keep IDC under 90%. Oscilations are gone. Title: Re: Custom stage 1+ having problems Post by: robek85 on October 22, 2020, 10:27:40 PM Hello again.
Havent post for a while now, made some minor changes to the car. Added inline fuel pump but still running 3bar FPR. (Have 4bar FPR ready). I did notice when temperature went lower i lost some low end spool - cant tell why. Couldn't find any leaks in system also. I did get two codes when scanning with vag com - might be related to low end spool? Car starts and runs fine. 16395 - Bank 1: Camshaft A (Intake) P0011 - 35-10 - Retard Setpoint not Reached (Over-Advanced) - Intermittent 16727 - Camshaft Position Sensor (G40) P0343 - 35-10 - Signal too High - Intermittent Below is latest log - any comments? I know my IDC are quite high but havent had any problems with fueling that i can tell. Thank you, Robert Title: Re: Custom stage 1+ having problems Post by: nyet on October 22, 2020, 10:38:30 PM that wnwise doesn't look good.
Title: Re: Custom stage 1+ having problems Post by: robek85 on October 23, 2020, 12:18:48 AM Hmmm, have checked some older logs and it looks a lot similar in all of them.
will look closely into that. original sensor died back in 2016 (car refused to start of course) - looking from my history notes - and have replaced with original one but used - identical vag code. could hydraulic timing belt tensioner be the problem? thank you Title: Re: Custom stage 1+ having problems Post by: Blazius on October 23, 2020, 05:47:45 AM Hmmm, have checked some older logs and it looks a lot similar in all of them. will look closely into that. original sensor died back in 2016 (car refused to start of course) - looking from my history notes - and have replaced with original one but used - identical vag code. could hydraulic timing belt tensioner be the problem? thank you No, the chain tensioner is more likely. Do you hear chain knock? Title: Re: Custom stage 1+ having problems Post by: robek85 on October 27, 2020, 02:40:51 AM Hello
Thank you for your suggestion. I know most of sounds my car makes, but chain rattle isn't one of them. Very good point - will have a look. Title: Re: Custom stage 1+ having problems Post by: robek85 on November 02, 2020, 04:40:24 AM Hi,
Ordered and installed new OEM camshaft sensor. Reading are shifted downwards but curve is pretty much same. (1st pic) Few weeks ago did a stage1 for a friend (same 1.8T) and his wnwise doesnt look that much different from mine. (2nd pic) Any opinions? thank you Title: Re: Custom stage 1+ having problems Post by: fknbrkn on November 02, 2020, 05:46:06 AM Tensioner fault?

Title: Re: Custom stage 1+ having problems Post by: robek85 on November 03, 2020, 02:22:14 AM Hi,
I lost some turbo spool down low, but in other rpm areas all is good. About the same time i saw a code stored about Camshaft in VCDS. I did a log - posted it here and got leaned towards wnwise not beeing OK. So to be sure all is good, i went and installed new cam sensor and made another log. Now im just trying to verify if this is normal behavior for camshaft position before moving on... I keep forgetting VCDS can do a lot more than i normaly use. Thanks Title: Re: Custom stage 1+ having problems Post by: robek85 on March 24, 2021, 10:51:55 PM Hello. It's been a while since i last posted anything.
Long story short - loost turbo spool down low and boost on top -> same time my camshaft sensor died... -> after a lot of testing i found my chinese turbo wastegate to be a little to lose - opening at about 4,38psi (i work at I&C department - have some serius tools to use) so took some time set it to 5,05 psi and i got my spool back. Added a quick log(if anyone adds their opinion), still have some small boost oscilation, but overall feels good and reasonably fast. Have a nice day, Robert Title: Re: Custom stage 1+ having problems Post by: nyet on March 24, 2021, 11:45:06 PM Looks pretty good but your injectors are absolutely maxed, you don't have much margin for BTS/ATR if something goes wrong...
Title: Re: Custom stage 1+ having problems Post by: robek85 on March 25, 2021, 12:16:15 AM Thanks, really means a lot coming from you.
At the moment i can go down to 0,75 at 98%DC as tested. Car is still at 3bar FPR, do you suggest moving to 4bar? Fuel pump should be capable up to 6bar with little reduction in flow. |
