Title: Golf 1.8t me7.5 big turbo build dump valve Post by: hillbily1988 on September 27, 2020, 08:10:26 AM Just wondering if anyone has tried running an atmospheric dump valve with FVPDKLDUS all set to 0.
I know you can do it to stop the pressure drop between turbo and throttle plate fault, but will it allow you to have an atmospheric dump valve without the jerking on and off throttle? If you're running speed density, sure, but why? Title: Re: Golf 1.8t me7.5 big turbo build dump valve Post by: hillbily1988 on September 29, 2020, 10:48:56 AM I keep getting 17705 and a lambda fault, tried zeroing that map as heard a lot of the time it's a software glitch and if you still get the fault after that then it's probably a mechanical error.
Anyway, I'm still getting the fault and cutting out when the fault is there. Done a smoke test on the exhaust and intake, I'm getting smoke out of the dipstick tube so I have ordered a new crank case breather (hockey Puck) and a new dipstick as it's falling apart and doesn't seal. The only other thing I can think of is that the lambda sensor is in the bottom of the exhaust because it kept hitting the tunnel under the car, I have been looking at Afr gauges and the kits say the lambda should be fitted pointing down into the exhaust, so that's the next thing to change if the leaks don't fix anything. And wondered if anyone had tried it. Again, not appropriate for MAF/torque based ECU. Period. Title: Re: Golf 1.8t me7.5 big turbo build dump valve Post by: hillbily1988 on September 29, 2020, 03:17:59 PM I am currently running mafless as it stops it cutting out at junctions but will change everything back when I get this problem sorted.
Title: Re: Golf 1.8t me7.5 big turbo build dump valve Post by: hillbily1988 on September 29, 2020, 03:24:11 PM Off subject but hope you can answer this.
I have ordered a wideband air/fuel gauge with loom but without sensor, my car has a wideband bosch sensor, can I just piggyback off the sensor used by the ECU or do I need to install an additional sensor just for the gauge? You're not going to get anything sorted running alpha-n, ever. If the car already has a wideband sensor, just log AFR. Done. I honestly don't think a live AFR gauge is that useful once you ditch alpha-n. That said, yes, you can tap the voltage from your wideband, as long as your WB gauge electronics input impedance is high enough. If not, you may need an opamp circuit, or worse case, plumb a dedicated wb sensor for it. Title: Re: Golf 1.8t me7.5 big turbo build dump valve Post by: hillbily1988 on September 29, 2020, 03:33:33 PM I did want to run mafless a while back but couldn't find an xdf with alpha n defined and got a load of abuse for wanting to go mafless
Title: Re: Golf 1.8t me7.5 big turbo build dump valve Post by: hillbily1988 on September 29, 2020, 03:36:30 PM I believe KLAF is alpha n but it is not in any of my xdf files

There isn't an "xdf" for it. It's shit. Title: Re: Golf 1.8t me7.5 big turbo build dump valve Post by: Blazius on September 29, 2020, 04:15:36 PM I would install 2 sensors, chinese one for gauge is good enough, the response time is basically the same anyway.

Title: Re: Golf 1.8t me7.5 big turbo build dump valve Post by: hillbily1988 on September 30, 2020, 01:10:46 AM Or should I just get the problems sorted and run air mass?
Title: Re: Golf 1.8t me7.5 big turbo build dump valve Post by: Blazius on September 30, 2020, 05:50:34 AM Or should I just get the problems sorted and run air mass? How much money do you wanna spend? fixing the maf, and properly tuning the car will be cheapest and easiest. Title: Re: Golf 1.8t me7.5 big turbo build dump valve Post by: hillbily1988 on September 30, 2020, 07:04:13 AM Yh I will try sorting the problem.
Otherwise Im probably looking at standalone ecu Title: Re: Golf 1.8t me7.5 big turbo build dump valve Post by: hillbily1988 on October 03, 2020, 11:35:13 AM Turns out all my problems were caused by the dipstick not sealing in the tube.
Created an air leak through the breather system. Title: Re: Golf 1.8t me7.5 big turbo build dump valve Post by: nyet on October 03, 2020, 11:44:20 AM Thank you for following up; it is extremely helpful to everyone!
