Title: 018J File with GT3071R - Load Tables
Post by: UM-Olli-92 on October 15, 2020, 04:55:40 AM
Hi Everyone,

I try to tune the file myself and I'm pretty much at the beginning to understand how ME7.5 Tuning really works.

My first try is attached also the xdf.
Could someone be so kind and could check if my load tables are reasonable?

I want the ecu to ramp up the boost pretty quick from 0-4500 rpm up to 1.5 bar. (for having a good responding car)
After 4500 rpm i plan to see 2.0 bar of boost.
The reason for that is, that my compressor housing has no anti surge and when I go higher than 1.5 bar of boost before reaching 4500 rpm my boost oscillates.

On the ECU Master EMU Classic that I was running before I was able to applicate a closed Loop Boost Control that works exactly the way I needed.

But the EMU had other problems, why I choosed to go back to ME7.

Thats the story....

The car is a wideband converted S3 1.8T (APY -> now AMK) with Garrett GT3071R on a top mount Manifold, Dahlbeck Racing Intake Manifold, H-Beam Rods, Sachs Race Clutch, 630cc Porsche Injectors and a 3" Exhaust.
In ESKONF I deleted the EGT Module and the VVT.

I know that the ME7.5 can only handle 1.5 Bar of Boost with no hacks on it.

On more question in my head is, if the ECU would run in my case closed loop for a good response up to 4500 rpm and if I go to higher Load (more boost), after 4500 rpm would it switch over to open Loop???

From EMU configuration I know that my particular setup needs 55% N75 DC from 4500 rpm to 7000 to make 2.0 bar of boost.

For a better quick view I made some screen shots

I created these values with ME7 Tuner Wizzard.xlsm

I forgot one

Set fixed duty on N75 with KFLDRL after 4500 rpm.

Also why you set IMX over 100%

Ok I will give it a try....

I dont know why IMX is so high. This is a file based on the GT2871 ar 0.81 that was fitted before. Now it is a GT3071 0.64 ar. Not so laggy as the GT28 before....
The IMX Values are from the „professional“ tuner that made the tune file for the GT28 modification. But the car never ran really good.
What do such high IMX Values result in?

I used the file so that I do not had to start from scratch.

These turbos have WG opening presure at about 0.8-1 bar. And it will not spool before 3500-3800 RPM.  And you can't use PID after 1.5 bar
So my sugestion will be to turn off PID complete(CWMDAPP=0)  and set WGDC with KFLDRAPP

Do not run more than 1.4 bar w/o the 5120 modification.

And yes, best option is to go on 5120 hack and sort all things right

Ok thanks to all.

Would it be possible to run closed loop until 1.5 bar or 4500 rpm and after that switch over to open loop because after 4500 rpm it is not laggy anymore ?

That question doesn't make any sense.

I dont understand either what is the issue? Go run fixed duty cycle runs to see what your turbo will do , from 10% to whatever u need. , switch to feed forward pid, make sure u dont request more than 1.4 bar and keep the peak below max limits. Also make sure your wg is locked at spool so you get the best spool as possible.

also dont touch UM maps unless absolutely necessary , which it isnt 99.9% of the time.

also why would you delete VVT? Should've added the VVT tensioner instead of getting rid of it.

The reason for that is, that I exacly know what my turbo will do with fixed N75 values.

From the ECU Master EMU Config on that specific car I know, that I have to run 55% DC all the way from 0-7000 rpm to realise 1,5 bar until 4500 rpm (even in 6 Gear on the Autobahn) and after 4500 rpm the boost rises to 2,0 bar until red line.

As I already said, unfortunatly I have to keep the boost low under 4500 rpm. Otherwise the turbo beginns to surge and my boost oszilates.

So with the need of fixed values 55% DC all the way from 0-7000 rpm my spool-up is pretty poor and slow while driving downtown.

With the EMU ECU Master I was able to run closed loop up to 2,0 bar of boost with working PID.
The spool up was great for such a „big“ turbo compared to a k04.
Thanks to the PID I was able to have 1.0 bar of boost even at 3000 rpm in 3. gear
And at 3500 rpm the boost was at 1.5 bar until 4500 rpm.
That made a great torque!!!

So my idea is to have a working PID until 4500 rpm or 1.5 bar for a good spool up downtown.
And after 4500 rpm the ECU should switch over to open loop, disable the PID and run fixed values like 55% DC until 7000 rpm.

I hope now you know what I mean.

Anyone please? Is it possible or not without doing a hack?

Do you understand that ps_w is also used for fueling?

Forget about that  :(
Now I see how dump my solution is

It can be sort out to 1.7-1.8 bar( I don't recomend only I say is possible), but 2.5 is too much without hack

it is doable by underscaling MAF and/or compensating in KFLF but its not ideal.

In the end, why not simply go to 5120 hack. There are enought free solutions on this forum for most 1.8T ecus, still if that is not enought he can always pay someone to do it. If you can build 400-500 Hp 1.8T it is worth to pay extra money for good solution. Can save engine from damage and much more expensive cost, and problems

Just do 5120, if you cant( or even crossflash a 5120 def), I am sure somebody here would it for you for a small amount of money lol
