Hey there,

I've been lurking for about a year and searching/digging for awhile.  It's now come time to do some real time work and I was looking for a definition file for 2005 b6 a4 1.8t 6spd with ecu 8E0909018A 0xff.  I haven't been able to find an xdf or damos for it yet.  if someone has one I'd love to get my hands on it. If it doesn't exist does anyone know a well defined .bin that is cross flashable with this ECU?

i believe this is the right number. 

I found it was said this computer had incomplete DTCs.  Not sure why that would be an issue.  I have an xdf and bin for 8E0909518F which I was trying to compare the hex and possibly create my own xdf.  If someone could advise me if this is a bad idea based on incomplete DTCs that would be great.  or can I flash a 518F file on my computer?  or even an AK?  trying to figure this out...

Your  2005 1.8t ME7.5 A4 ECU (8E0909518BC) should be cross-flashable with the 2004 (8E0909518AK) which has well defined .xdf available and which was used as the basis of the community stage 1 tuning project. You will likely have an easier time following and using the community tune 1.8T project if you cross flash to the 8E0909518AK. The latest .xdf and .bin from this tuning project are available in first post of thread at;

Thank you very much!  I have those files and will move forward with that.  I was trying to use that to cross reference hex to find definitions.  I'll be digging deeper to get a grasp of cross flashing and immo/vin stuff.   ;D

ps: please forgive any typos etc..  I'm using my car computer with a keyboard made for kindergardeners...

So I'm not exactly sure what the bootrom version is in me7check.  as far as i can tell the only thing referring to a version is the Software version.

as you can see the Software version is different.  but I was comparing hex and i read that if the beginning of the hex is the same you should be ok...  do you know how far down the hex needs to be the same?

i start getting variation between the two files at 0008000.

Excellent info there - I was looking into ECU compatibility for some of the many ME7.5 incarnations of the 1.8T engine and wondered if there was a quick way to find the boot loader version - as it's that which defines how all the I/O is mapped to connector pins amongst other things.

Word of warning: do not always trust the EPK! It is just a string in the flash (not the rom) and can be set to literally anything, with no regard to the actual bootloader.
