Title: Seems like I bricked 95160 Post by: borderm3 on December 06, 2021, 02:18:16 PM Hi All,
I think I bricked a 95160 trying to write it with a clip without desoldering. Yes, lazy... I have since tried reading it with an adapter and by soldering to adapter directly in zif socket. Using a vvdi prog. I pulled a ST 93C86 out of an MS43 and was able to read and write and read that just fine. Therefore, I believe my vvdi prog is operational. Will this 95160 chip work properly? https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/stmicroelectronics/M95160-DRMN3TP-K/4729254?s=N4IgjCBcpgbFoDGUBmBDANgZwKYBoQB7KAbRACYBOAFkvIA4QBdAgBwBcoQBldgJwCWAOwDmIAL4FyAVnIIQySOmz4ipCmHLUA7JWZtOkHv2FjJFbfGgLUmXAWKQysMAGZX1fSA5deg0RIE9AAMwfKKyvZqThTBAAQAsgASAF5ePkYAqkIC7ADyKAk4aFgArnw4geBUENYRdqqOZFS05PAs3obG-mYEYJT0enW2Kg7qYR0Z3aZV5MHUcsNKDWMx5AzB2oyTXX4z5gC0tUgjUU0gtNrMh55LkY3qrpRgwe3i5otklNJwE%2BJAA Title: Re: Seems like I bricked 95160 Post by: borderm3 on December 06, 2021, 09:13:47 PM This an me7.1 in a 2005 new beetle 5 cylinder
Title: Re: Seems like I bricked 95160 Post by: borderm3 on December 08, 2021, 12:22:33 PM So I got M95160-DRMN3TP/K from digikey.
I am able to read it and write a blank bin but it anytime I try to write a non blank bin I get 'Write Error(00)'. Does anyone know if perhaps these are write protected or something? I suspect my VVDI Prog should be able to write any ST 95160 not just the exact ones that came in the ECU's? TIA Title: Re: Seems like I bricked 95160 Post by: borderm3 on December 08, 2021, 12:42:58 PM If I do a verify, I get a 'check failure'. Perhaps the checksum is different for these two chips? In over my head here, anyway to correct it to make it work?
