Title: Aftermarket / chinese k04 inlet pipes for s4
Post by: AndiS4 on May 30, 2012, 02:29:27 PM
Does anyone drive the ebay alumnium inlet pipes? Are they worth the money? I buyed a very cheap pair including everything for a k04 swap. They look pretty good. In they costed me 1/5 of the oem inlet pipes:D.

I'm using the ones that came free with my frankenturbos.. they seem to be just as generic as the ebay ones.  They don't have the stabilizer vacuum lines like the factory pipes do, but other than that I have no issues really to speak of.

what are 'stabilizer vacuum lines'?

Can anyone do a side by side (stock vs ebay/frankenturbo)?

Can adapters be fabbed (assuming that K04 intake diameter is larger than the K03, but probably not by much?).

you can use your OEM k03 pipes for free...ive done it before...hack up the ends where they bolt to the turbo inlet and get a 2" (i think it was 2") coupler and clamp it down to the turbo...easy and almost free

I will give it a try. From my 1.8T experience (ghetto job as well), the biggest issue is the relatively short 'tube' on the intake of the compressor housing to get a good, firm clamp seat on.

I will check the diamters involved (K04 inlet OD, stock pipe OD) and see if I have a suitable coupler.
