Title: VW New Beetle Battery Question/ECU Quesion (immo?) Post by: Vwvr61991 on March 18, 2022, 05:23:56 AM So wanted to purchase a 03' VW "New Beetle" and i go to meet the guy and the owner told me that it has been sitting for a year or so and that it drove just fine when he parked the car. Well i try starting it and of course its dead. So i get a freshly charged battery and swap it out. I Try starting it and it starts up just fine for 1 second and then dies. Sounds like an immo problem. there is the "car outline with key symbol" that's on the dash/cluster/speedo. Its solid though, not flashing. Not sure if that's all the info someone needs to help me out.
What i have done: -New Battery. -Taken both pos and neg battery cables off battery and touched them together for 15+ seconds to reset ecu -ran a diagnostic on VCDS i can post if needed? Only could communicate with the 01;Engine Module unfortunately. I cannot for the life of me remember if its a 2.0L or a 2.5L engine Wednesday,16,February,2022,03:51:53:47148 VCDS -- Windows Based VAG/VAS Emulator Running on Windows 10 x64 VCDS Version: 21.9.0.2 (x64) HEX-V2 CB: 0.4608.4 Data version: 20210903 DS330.0 www.Ross-Tech.com Chassis Type: 9C - VW New Beetle (1999 > 2010) Scan: 01 02 03 08 15 17 19 25 29 35 37 39 46 54 56 65 75 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Address 01: Engine Labels: 06A-906-032-AVH.lbl Part No: 06A 906 032 MG Component: 2.0l R4/2V G 4633 Coding: 00001 Shop #: WSC 00066 VCID: 6FBBD7D5FE868EB34EB-5184 3VWBK21C33M416890 VWZ5Z0B7287195 11 Faults Found: 16804 - Catalyst System; Bank 1 P0420 - 35-10 - Efficiency Below Threshold - Intermittent 19497 - Powertrain Databus P3041 - 35-10 - Implausible Engine Temp.
