Title: Is the egt model trustworthy on highly modded engines?
Post by: tadope on May 15, 2022, 08:07:48 PM
Hi. so i have no egt sensor.
but I have a big turbo.  gt28 on my amu engine.
wide band o2.
also I have a custom stainless exhaust manifold.
The turbo was on the cheaper side, so I think it is only rated to 900deg
and the manifold is pretty light weight so I am also concerned about how much temp it can handle.

Can I trust the egt model to log and try and protect my components?

No its not. If you have egt gauge or something you might wanna correct it so its correct(er) in the relevant maps, just be mindful on how the EGT model works, its explained quite decently in the FR with multiple sensors and locations. Pretty sure I made a thread regarding this.

Yeah I have no egt gauge.
I guess I'll just have to use it and give it a wide margin of error
