Title: New Beetle 06A906032CK troubles
Post by: Sandstorm3k on July 01, 2022, 05:06:44 AM
Recently we acquired a 2000 MY VW Beetle 1.8T (AVC engine) for my girlfriend.

Obviously the plan wasn't to keep it at a stock 150hp. So I got to work. After having a hard time pulling the file through OBD I pulled the ECU. Eventually after a lot of headache I got what I believe to be a corrupted read with MPPS. No other program wanted to play ball.

As such I figured gathering a stock 06A906032CK bin from here would be the best. Now the problem is I cannot get this ECU back to life whatever I do with it. I have access to MPPS and Kess. While Kess always works it won't budge with this ECU. The MPPS will flash the file after a few attempts (through bootmode) but after it completed the ECU is still bricked. I also tried crossflashing 032C and 032E but no luck, it just stops writing within 25%.

What can I do to salvage this ECU? I got very lucky as I had a spare exact 06A906032CK ECU (which i just adapted and the car runs now). But now i'm afraid to brick this too.

I'm thinking of just changing ECU to something like 06A906032E or 06A906032C. Perhaps even custom tune on a narrowband APP/AJQ file to suit the Beetle. (032T/032S?). But for the i'd like to know why this ECU won't respond to anything. I've wasted over 5 hours on this stupid thing now.

I'm your neighbour   ;D

Beetle was imported from Germany too.

For now i've got it back up and running on a modified 032S file (& ecu)

Though i'd still like to know what is causing this problem with this specific ECU. Never faced any problems like this before.

Edit: car runs fine but

P1676 & P1517 remain.
