Title: How do you clone mechatronics?
Post by: R32Dude on October 06, 2022, 07:07:34 AM
If I purchase a mechatronics unit from a random dq250 , is a minidsg reader enough to clone it? If not what is required?

There's like 3 generations of DQ250.

You're going to have to be a LOT more specific.

4, including MQB.
If you're not doing MQB stuff, there's no need to clone eeprom, flash is enough because there is no immo in dsg. Clone kess, mini dsg reader and other cheap things can read/write flash.

Thanks for the info. This is the one in my car.  Can I put in it any functioning CXX and expect the car to work as before or does something else need to be done (apart from adaptations)?

All pre-MQB DSG mechatronics are interchangeable.
In case of CXX because they went out of production there's a replacement part number and equivalent software for EXX/FXX.
In case of all of them, just doing a full OBD flash with the correct software is enough.

And I'd recommend getting EXX/FXX if your CXX went south.
