Title: 2.7T M-box 001 vs 002 also 5120, Multi-map, etc. Post by: trichard3000 on October 13, 2022, 08:13:07 AM What are the real differences between the 001 and 002 versions of the M-box code? Are there any benefits to running the 002 code over the 001 code?
Here's why I ask: After making some long-planned tweaks to my B5, I want to tackle a fresh tune from scratch. I have been running a version of the 001 M-Box with the multi-map/map switching patches by phila_dot from ten years ago. I like the multi-map capability and ideally I want to keep it. If I'm starting from scratch though, I think it makes sense to start with the 5120 hack and tune from there. It looks like the 002 version is the definitive one for 5120. Here are my options, any advice or recommendations from others that went down this road? - See if anyone has an 002 bin patched with multi-map. I don't have IDApro and my assembler skills are weak so rolling my own multi-map 002 bin seems out of reach. I could hack that to the 5120 maps. (Ideally, someone already has a 5120-ized 002 with multi-map. Am I just dreaming here?) - "5120-ize" my 001 bin. This seems doable but would I be missing any benefits of running 002? I'd also miss the opportunity to benefit from any community work that is unique to the 002 version. - Ditch multi-map and just tune with the "normal" 5120 bin. I do like multi-map, though. I have 93 where I live but sometimes I go places where it isn't available. I like having a "valet" mode, too. However, I'm not shooting for a crazy, edge of the envelope tune here so maybe it's overkill. - Ditch the 5120 hack. Again, I'm not shooting for crazy loads. I still have BWK04's today but have a set of (slightly) larger FT's that will go in at some point. I just like the idea of keeping all the maps in the middle of the MAP range and not tweaking for things off the ends of the scales. Thanks in advance for any feedback or comments on my situation.
