Title: Am I too noob for NefMoto?
Post by: goobie93 on November 01, 2022, 09:40:26 AM
I recently purchased a 2014 Audi A7 3.0T TFSI with 100k miles. There are many tuning options available online (APR, ECS, IE, etc.) but I'm not a fan of how much they cost.

I'm willing to put in the work but I really don't even know where to start. I don't want to blow up my engine, I just want to tune it without spending an insane amount of money.

I have experience... I'm a software engineer for Linux-based applications so Windows is somewhat foreign to me.

I read through all the FAQ stuff, but I'm having difficulty following it.

there are cards for injection, ignition, lambda...it all depends on what you want to do. more power on 3.0T? :o

Unfortunately, there isn't much as much information about these "later" model VAG ECUs here compared to ME7.x

To do it yourself costs about 5-6 times as much and probably won't be as good either.

Much cheaper to buy ready product. There's nothing cheap about DIY.

I understand, thank you. I just wanted to go the open-source route if possible.

Appreciate all the other responses too.

Unfortunately those days are over. ME7.x is really the only generation where this happened. I do not suspect it will ever happen again.

3.0 TFSI FR is posted here IIRC as is damos.
PCMFlash will flash them, it does a full flash OBD so it's possible to get my logger patch in.

But if you don't have calibration experience...
