Title: Oil warning when using rpm gauge for visualization
Post by: flamy on November 02, 2022, 08:50:53 AM
Hey folks,

I try to use the rpm gauge of my cluster (RS4B5) for displaying a variable by hijacking the part of code where nmot_w gets moved to the according CAN message. In general that works.

But in two situations, I get an oil pressure warning from my cluster:
- Engine is off and rpm is changed to a value above 0
- Engine is running and rpm is changed to 0 (If I remember correctly, I also tried different values up to 100 as "close to 0")

Did anyone of you experienced the same "problem"?
Is there any workaround for it?

Best Regards,
Nils

Its a cluster things

Just avoid those conditions if possible

You can put between oil pressure switch and cluster one relay and active it with ECU when You change n_mot with different variable.

No easy workaround without doing extra wiring.

On newer cars there is a special, "tuned" RPM for display in the cluster, they don't display engine RPM anymore, so there is no such issue.

Thanks mates! Thus, I have to live with the warning. It's okay for my purpose.

Maybe you can transmit the mapset number to the MFD, without using the Tacho?

Not unless you install third party device.

when it comes to displaying the map.
As usual, I also used this to display the map (map switching is only possible when the engine is running).
I don't remember exactly, but I have limited the time for displaying and setting the map and therefore there is actually no longer an oil warning because it returns to normal speed quickly enough (map switch with 3 buttons, display / setting separately.
But since 99% of the people in my environment use FIS-Control, I have now solved this with MWB and bypass it completely.
