Title: EA839 3.0T Tune
Post by: RocketGO on March 16, 2023, 02:35:05 AM
Hello guys,

I am doing the EA839 3.0T tune by myself. (No mods, only - RON98)

First of all, my target is a strong and secure up to ~400hp crank or ~350whp.

Now pushing about 1.5-1.3bar all the rpm range with timing 9 BTDC. And in fact it is running much better than stock but still I want to make more corrections.  I know other famous tuners spiking 1.6bar and getting all the range for 1.5bar with very high 15 BTDC (???) at high revs.

I have an underboost after 5000rpm. WG seems to be struggling at that high rpm.

. Tried to increase 20% WGDC @ high diff pressure but results were very low.  Should I alter PID gain instead of drastically increasing DC? Maybe Derivative one?

. Should I open throttle 100% instead of 77% at lower air mass? By default it is air mass dependent but 100% is at 2500kg/h air mass.

Very sadly every time I had to bench ECU to flash files, because my tool can't unlock the processor for OBD flashing. So better I take community help to discuss. Maybe there are EA839 3.0T tuners in here. :)

Vehical probably real time tunes these.

Vehical probably real time tunes these.
It does... it also makes useful logs, unlike what we have here.
Btw OP, when making a log put it in manual and make a single pull in a single gear through the whole RPM range. Not what you are doing here.

I quit tuning before these became a thing, so I can't really weigh in on calibration questions.

Yeah I had logged 3th gear separately, but also wanted to see boost during shift.
VehiCAL also offers https://tools.vehical.net/VAGMG1boostTo make WGDC tuning very simple like the old ECU.
Just a question - for real time tuning what interface I need quite I do not understand. Is J2534 Openport enough?
