Title: 1.8t ME7.5 to Golf mk2 mods Post by: Janko on April 27, 2023, 07:44:45 AM Hello,
I have Golf mk2 with AGU engine and im finishing m3.8.3 to me7.5 conversion on it. I have upgraded also k04-022 and s3 injectors and sensors. Ecu i have is a 06A906032GT and i have made immo delete and cross-flashed ecu to 8N0906018BH.ori (BAM) I have been test driving for now with the BH stock file and everything works like should. Missing things like EGT-probe keeps car in open-loop offcourse. Mods i need to make: EGT-delete VVT-delete N80-delete Rear O2 delete (and cat) So first question, I have been reading previous topics of EGT deletes but one question i havent found answer. If im not completely wrong, this ecu uses rear o2 sensor to calculate modelled temperature used on BTS? I want to keep BTS on and only delete ATR. How is that possible with rear o2 delete? Thanks! Do you think i should start with .ori without EGT sensor, like 032hj? Is it easier route to working BTS? Thanks! Title: Re: 1.8t ME7.5 to Golf mk2 mods Post by: prj on April 27, 2023, 03:08:07 PM Does not make any difference what binary you start from.
OEM K04 fueling strategy is lambda 0.9 until target EGT is hit, then fuel dump. If you remove the EGT sensor on one of these, code it out and do nothing else, then one longer WOT run and you will melt a cylinder. So yes you probably will have to enable BTS. But best thing to do is fit the EGT sensor. Your ECU supports it, it makes everything safer, it's stupid not to do it, but up to you. Title: Re: 1.8t ME7.5 to Golf mk2 mods Post by: Janko on April 27, 2023, 11:09:31 PM I would definetly put EGT sensor if i had K04-023. I will try to make BTS working for the sake of learning and start to collect parts to fit egt later.
Thanks! Title: Re: 1.8t ME7.5 to Golf mk2 mods Post by: prj on April 28, 2023, 01:55:37 AM You can just put it in the manifold as well, it does not have to be in turbo hotside.
Title: Re: 1.8t ME7.5 to Golf mk2 mods Post by: Janko on April 28, 2023, 03:57:41 AM Easiest place for me to put egt is in the downpipe straight after turbo but i think it would need some calculations because exhaust gases is not so hot there.
Title: Re: 1.8t ME7.5 to Golf mk2 mods Post by: prj on April 28, 2023, 06:15:49 AM EGT is significantly lower downstream of the turbine, but of course if you set target EGT lower then it should still work all the same. It's just difficult to know what the EGT drop is.
Much better is in manifold or turbo hotside (same thing). Title: Re: 1.8t ME7.5 to Golf mk2 mods Post by: Janko on April 29, 2023, 07:36:06 AM Next problem is i cannot find TKATBTS in my file. Its not in same position as in fully defined 018CB.ols file i found.
Can someone show me way to find TKATBTS in my file? Thanks! E: Found it. I downloaded HEX editor and took string of bits at fully defined.ols file and put it in the search and found match. TKATBTS seems to be at 0x1CF1C (correct me if im wrong..) Title: Re: 1.8t ME7.5 to Golf mk2 mods Post by: MirXas on April 29, 2023, 02:18:33 PM You can easily drill and tap a hole for the EGT sensor, its not that hard to do, there is a milled flat spot for it in the same place as in the k04-023.

Hello. There was no extra milled surface in my k04-022. But i bought k04-023 and i have EGT sensor now. I think it's good safety feature as im going to tune it myself. I have stock BAM 018CB file. Exhaust temps rises to 800-900°C at 3-4 gear pull. Lambda actual and specified stays .95ish. Im afraid to continue because i think .95 lambda might be too lean for WOT pull. Is this normal 1.8t with EGT behaviour? E: I have some differences like intercooler and piping compared to stock BAM. I allso have full 3" exhaust without cat. Title: Re: 1.8t ME7.5 to Golf mk2 mods Post by: prj on May 22, 2023, 08:57:06 AM This is how the OEM works. They run 0.9 or 0.95 lambda until the EGT limit is hit and then do a fast fuel dump to keep it under control.
It is best for fuel economy. Not best for power. Nothing dangerous about it, since the idea behind adding fuel is to control temps. You can enrich further e.g. 0.82-0.85 lambda at peak and 0.8-0.82 towards the top end if you like, especially when running more boost. And then let the ECU dump fuel if you hit the EGT. 800-900 is completely fine... If you are running stock boost then you won't see any EGT issues, unless flooring it for prolonged period. It has stock 018CB tune with rear o2 delete and VVT delete. Some hesitation at 4-5000rpm sometimes, maybe VVT delete? I attached 3rd gear WOT log, 1-2-3 log and my current tune. (Car has tdi long ratio gearbox..) Can someone check the logs if there is something out of place? Thanks! Can someone check the logs if there is something out of place? Thanks! It looks okay, bit wavy afr/lambda control. Pretty much maxed out injectors. As expected it runs 0.95 lambda till it hits target then fuel dump. I would probably suggest changing this to proper lambda target, specially if running pump and you want a bit more performance. Thank you, i will do that when i start to modify the tune. I can't understand how can the injector duty cycle be that high as i have stock BAM tune, injectors, fuelpump and pressure regulator.. E: All new parts and 98E5 fuel, Injectors: BOSCH 0 280 156 063 / OE 06A 906 031 BC FPR: BOSCH 0 280 160 557 / OE 037 133 035 C Title: Re: 1.8t ME7.5 to Golf mk2 mods Post by: prj on June 15, 2023, 05:08:34 PM Because you are running 0.75 lambda at top end.
And I don't know why you would get so small injectors, instead of newer EV14 type. FPR - fit a 4 bar one. With 3 bar you will max injectors before you max the turbo, this is the case on every AMK/BAM engine. If you want to tune it get a 4 bar FPR. |
