Title: HELP : Error ECU reports that security access request was rejected
Post by: Corbett on July 01, 2012, 09:57:50 PM
I've been trying to read my flash and even write a flash and neither is working.  I am able to connect but I keep getting stuck at the line :

ECU reports that security access request was rejected

And then it just hangs.  I have tried a few different BAUDs.  My cable works fine in Vag-Com and VCDS Lite.

Any help would be apprecited!

Some ECUs refuse to allow security access when the immobilizer information is not set properly, or when the ECU cannot talk to the instrument cluster or immobilizer. Is the ECU installed in the car along with the instrument cluster?

The ECU is installed along with the cluster.  I have an EPL tune currently but I would like to flash the Stage 2 ++ tune instead and try it out.  A friend was already able to backup my tune just in case but I am not able to do so myself.

im having the same issue on my allroad, but no tune on mine, completely stock. security access rejected.
is this an immo issue? what wouldnt match between my ecu, key, and cluster if i dont have an immo light on?

I had the same issue with a 2002 a6 (with immobilizer). It would give the same error (access rejected) 90 percent of the time, and even if it was accepted it would close comms between 3 and 5 percent. I finally just disabled the immo in boot mode, now it flashes like it's supposed to in around 2:30 with no hangups.

If you haven't tried already, try using fast init.

Tried fast unit with no luck and don't have the resources to turn immo off unless,it can be done in car with eBay vag cable

Not in the car. Remove ECU and put in bootmode. Use ArgDub's ME7_95040 to flash one of the many immo off bins from the forum.

Bootmode on the bench is not that difficult. Old computer power supply and some wire... Not really resource intensive. All you need then is a third arm to ground pin 24 and you are golden.  ;D

yeah the thing i dont comrehend is that ME7_95040 and how to use it.
can i use galletto to flash the ecu in boot mode (removing immo) then i know i will get the programming not finished dtc but i can then go back in with nefmoto and flash again, remocing said dtc right?

I've never used Galleto in boot mode so I'm not sure. Worth a try though, it may complete the flash that way.

Me7_95040 is really easy to use. Granted it is command line but there are plenty of examples in ArgDub's thread. Just put ME7_95040 in the directory shown when you go to 'Run' and type 'cmd' if you don't know command line syntax. Also place the immo off image (in the same directory) that RaraK was nice enough to supply in this thread:

http://nefariousmotorsports.com/forum/index.php?topic=602.0

Then try to read your chip (and save a copy in case you want the original back) by typing in:

me7_95040.exe --bootmode -r -p 1 -b 10400 original.bin

This assumes your cable is on COM1. If not change the number behind '-p' to your COM port number. If that works then you can write RaraK's immodef95040 file much the same way. Type in:

me7_95040.exe --bootmode -w -p 1 -b 10400 immodef95040.bin

You should have successfully defeated the immo (although I've never used RaraK's immodefeat file, it should work). Try flashing the ECU bin you want again via Galleto or Nefmoto and it should work... If it is your immo causing the problem. Good luck!

Just wanted to post up here my work around for this issue today.

Vehicle: 2002 Audi TT 180 Quattro
ECU: 8N0906018AL 0261207419 362515
eBay FTDI cable

Using NefMoto 1.9.3.2 (current) any read or write of this ECU would fail with the above error. I downgraded to NefMoto 1.9.1.2 and I could read and write this ECU without an issue.

Can you read this ECU with version 1.9.2.0?

Can you post log files from a version of the software that works and a version that does not work?

Just wanted to bring this back up as i too have an issue with 1.9.3.2 which i'll explain what i know so far.

ECU software 8N0906018H

on any laptop i have after a fresh install of W7, installing only nefmoto 1.9.3.2 and ftdi driver i get the Security access was rejected.
If i install version 1.9.1.2 on the same laptop at that point it works perfectly fine....however 1.9.1.2 will not import my premium license file, only 1.9.3.2 will.

On one laptop i have again win7 but 64bit, 1.9.3.2 is installed with license and works perfectly fine on the same ECU in car (screen currently broke hence me trying to work out why i can't get it to work on another)

I checked Driver version for my FTDi cable on the working laptop (v2.12.06), on the laptop with security access error it was different so i removed the one ftdi driver i had installed and updated it to (v2.12.06)

No different still says security access rejected, So because i have one that works and one that doesn't other than cloning my laptop lol, i'm gonna try and work out whats different.

it's not the ftdi driver
it's not the ECU software revision
it does not need additional 12v to pin 121 (i read that on here somewhere)
on the same laptop that rejects security on 1.9.3.2 it works with 1.9.1.2

I cannot find any other versions of nefmoto anywhere, does anyone have any links to one for me to test.
I think version 1.9.1.2 will not import license because it says Beta version on the title bar once installed?

Many thanks.
Mark

Well that was a bit pointless but will probably help some one else out........

the only difference on the working to non-working laptop was the baud rate, working was set to 124800 and the freshly installed laptop was set to - unspecified......and that's all it was ffs lol ::)

Hi!

I have the same issue. Nefmoto 1.9.4.3 version. I've switched off Immo but I cannot read the flash.
Reading ECU flash memory.
ECU reports programming session preconditions have been met.
Failed to start diagnostic session.
Requesting security access.
ECU reports that security access request was rejected.
