Title: Throttle body sizing Post by: RaraK on July 09, 2012, 05:52:47 AM what are some of the sizes of Throttle bodies. I think it would be nice to compile a list of easily had compatible DBW throttle bodies for the platform.
My measurements are the ID of the TB Plate surface area, or the plate size. 1.8T DBW = 57mm ID S4 = ? RS4 = ? ??? Title: Re: Throttle body sizing Post by: rob.mwpropane on July 09, 2012, 04:18:50 PM I have a "A" Box throttle body laying up at the shop I'll measure tomorrow. I'm pretty sure it's 70mm though.

Title: Re: Throttle body sizing Post by: marcello7x on July 11, 2012, 12:26:32 PM Never looked into tb sizing before. But a quick search lead me to a thread of dyno figures on a 1.8t with a veriety of sizes. Are these measurents inner or outer diameter?
Title: Re: Throttle body sizing Post by: rob.mwpropane on July 11, 2012, 07:51:11 PM I feel like a little bit of an ass. I totally forgot about this today, I have set an alarm to remind me. My apologies.

Wanna discuss tuning of these Next ;) Title: Re: Throttle body sizing Post by: jibberjive on July 12, 2012, 12:38:49 AM I look forward to the discussion and have a couple of thoughts about a some things I've stumbled on when studying. I haven't done any experimenting personally yet, but I've got 2 Hemi TB's on my floor right now :)
Title: Re: Throttle body sizing Post by: rob.mwpropane on July 12, 2012, 06:49:08 AM The measurement itself was a tad deceiving. The inlet on an A box tb was 70mm, while the plate itself was more like 67mm. Who would of known. Now wonder measurements all over the internet are different.
Title: Re: Throttle body sizing Post by: marcello7x on July 18, 2012, 05:59:50 AM I have a 2.8l v6 passat tb in my trunk, i'll measure that and let you guys know.
Title: Re: Throttle body sizing Post by: marcello7x on July 18, 2012, 06:46:01 AM Part number 078 133 062 B, from 2.8l passat is the same as an S4 throttle body except for the coolant lines i believe.
S4 tb part number is 078 133 062 for reference. If anyone could point me in the direction of maps that would need some tweaking, i'd be thankful! I have a 1.8T here running a R32 TB, it seems fine under load and driving, its got a nicer linear response. The issue it after going from WOT the rpms seem the hover for a second or two. I will have a play tomorrow to see what I can find. Nick Title: Re: Throttle body sizing Post by: RaraK on November 06, 2012, 09:49:19 AM i just adjusted airflow over throttle maps
