Title: RS4 Airbox flap
Post by: prj on July 19, 2012, 06:57:38 AM
I have removed the airbox flap, and there is a valve controlling it.

It is 026 906 283 H I believe.

Does anyone know what governs it's functionality?
I will unplug the electrical connection as well and see what it comes up with, but perhaps someone has deleted this before?

Having carefully analyzed the RS4 table MLHFM, I'm convinced that Audi embedded the increased airflow in the 512x1 table.  Compare the log curve to that of the S4 and you'll see it...

Hi,

the airbox flap is controlled by

KFLUKL [load/RPM] at hex 1A906 "Kennfeld zur Steuerung der Luftfilterklappe"

TLUKL [sec] at hex 1A946 "Verzögerungszeit für Schließen der Luftfilterklappe"

and

VLUKL [km/h] at hex 1A947 "vfzg - Schwelle für Öffnen der Luftfilterklappe"

It is not documented in the ME7.1 Funtionsrahmen, because it is a special function only in the RS4.

I have also blocked my open airbox flap, because I want to use the implemented "intake air changeover function" to control a water methanol injection.

To do this, I will disconnect the harness connector from the N335 and plug it into a relay to switch a electrical high-pressure water pump.

The N335 is connected to pin 44 of the 551K ECU.

So I can control the pump by KFLUKL over load and RPM with a vehicle speed threshold.

I will do this in the next month, because I don't have time at the moment.

I've got mine connected to intake (pre-turbo inlet), since i am lacking the proper valve.

not sure if that ever develops enough vac :)

Awesome idea with the meth injection control... I thought about it myself, but it would require extra code, because if I am not mistaken that map is only "on/off".

I managed to get a used Aquamist HFS-3 kit for a lot below retail, so I am using that. Fitting it now actually - a lot of work :(
This controller tracks the injector duty cycle, so it delivers a truly progressive output.

I will look and see what I can use the output for though :)
Btw, do you know if this feature is somehow specific to 551K ecu? I don't mean the software, I mean the hardware in ECU? Or is it just a spare output on other ECU's?
I will also need to look for codewords to disable diagnosis, because I don't have it plugged in.

P.S.

Thomas, thank you for great information, as always :)

Thanks  ;)

I don`t know if it is a specific port or pinout only on the 551K ECU,
but I think the 551K ECU and all very close ME7.1 ECU versions like the 551M (equal CPU ROM), have all the same hardware, but I'm not absolutely sure.
