Title: ME7 mk4 vs mk5 oil temp/level sensor
Post by: MirXas on June 09, 2024, 12:19:14 PM
Having a not very common problem I think. MK4 chassis swapped with MK5 electronics (A3 8L updated to 8P). Engine is currently mk4 3.2 BHE with a corresponding mk4 ME7.1.1 ecu. With this mk4 ecu, there is no oil temp display in instrument cluster, only dashes (--) shown instead. No fault codes. As soon as I connect a mk5 ME7.1.1 ecu (from BUB engine), oil temp shows up. Oil sensor P/N is the same for both chassis. Obviously, instrument cluster needs *something* from ECU via can bus to ?enable? oil temp display. I scrolled and searched the FR for info on how this works, codewords etc., but "Öl Level" or "Ölsensor" doesn't return anything. Any ideas ?

Found that the sensor is called TOG. No idea from the FR if my problem can be solved without an in-depth understanding of ASM modifications. Help ?
