I had a vag com cable on the car, and tried to flash it. Ignition on but engine off

Validated FTDI device is in dumb mode.
Disconnected
Connecting...
Starting slow init connection.
Connecting to address 0x01.
Slow init succeeded.
Connected
Writing ECU flash memory.
Unable to validate programming session preconditions, attempting to continue.
Negotiating communication timings.
Successfully changed to new communication timings.

More context would help... Like, are you flashing it in the car or is it out of the car on the bench? What car? What software version?
The comment about immo off is irrelevant specially if you are having issues just trying to read a file, more information is needed in order to properly advise.
