Title: TDI vehicle/ecu election to learn diesel tuning Post by: marantzvieta on December 24, 2024, 04:46:56 AM Hi all,
To who may know me from other topics, I have been very focused in 1.8t tuning for the last couple of years with good success, also thanks to this forum and the people here, which has taught me a lot. So thank you all in first place. I am seeking for advice, as I have been wondering for several months now to purchase another vehicle to learn about Diesel tuning too. But I don't want to choose based on the car, but on the ECU it has: I am looking to purchase a car with an ecu that can give me the best baseline possible for tuning Bosch Diesel ecus such as EDC15s, ED16s, EDC17s... all based around the german car market, and have seen several options like Audis, BMWs or Mercedes. But I want to ask if anybody can give me some advice based on experiences with diesel ecu's. My main option is the quirky Audi A2 with the 1.4tdi 90hp version, just for giggles, cheapness, and practicality as it is kind of a Bonsai car sizewise. I know it has an EDC15P+ ecu, but also have thought on maybe an A4 or A6 with 2.0TDI, BMW e60 with 525d or 530d, or even a Mercedes W211 with 220CDI engine. I don't care about aesthetics, the engine it has, price up to a limit... Only requirement is for the car to be around 2005 to 2012, as where I live there is a low emissions zone that vehicles need to comply with. So if anybody has anything to share about this I would be very happy to hear you all. Wishing all a merry christmas. Best regards from Barcelona, Spain. In my opinion, when we talk about Diesel tuning, the community is not as organized as Gasoline. We don't have a forum like S4Wiki to learn how Bosch ECU works, it's complicated to find funktionsrahmen, my strategy to learn about diesel tuning is to download EDC Damos from the internet and compare them with Tuned files. Here it is the vagecumap course maybe help you ----> https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Dow2o4GEt-FkWRa_XJb3D0GBAENXOPgr Happy studying!! I tuned my first cars in the family with a free programm called vagedcsuite. Makes it really easy to tune EDC15. I gave you 2 bin files into the attachements of my Passat with 1.9tdi AVB engine. Give it a try. it seems to have a bunch of features that could help you out. You're diving into ECUs like EDC15 and EDC17, right? It might just be the tool you need. It supports a whole bunch of different cars and ECUs, so there's a good chance it could work with your Audi A2 or whatever other vehicle you're looking at. |
