Title: 1.8T ECU with or without map cooling? Post by: horon6155 on April 12, 2025, 09:52:48 AM Hello.
I recently completed a DSG conversion. To ensure communication, I had to replace my control unit 8N0906018Q and installed a 06A906032HJ with 06A906032DJ software. Everything works. The only problem I have is that the fans keep going on and off. Even when the ignition is on. Now I suspect that the 06A906032HJ has map-controlled cooling and needs the fan control unit with a 6-pin connector instead of the 14-pin connector I have. I want to be sure before I start converting to the new fan control unit. Does anyone know if this is the case? The control unit comes from a 1.8t AUM. Unfortunately, I don't know the year of manufacture, so I can't check whether it has map-controlled cooling or not. Title: Re: 1.8T ECU with or without map cooling? I'd check the wiring (from ECU Pin 40/41 to T10x (orange) 7/8 to the Climate Control Unit). Title: Re: 1.8T ECU with or without map cooling? Post by: horon6155 on April 12, 2025, 02:51:37 PM I'll check that out. The strange thing is, when I connect the old control unit, everything's fine. I saw in the wiring diagrams for AUM models from 2002 onwards that they're also available with 6 pins. I don't know if that's correct. The wiring diagram says AUM from 2002 onwards, but it also says "bad."
