Title: Me7.1.1 3.2 vr6 Understanding

Hi everyone,

This concerns the 3.2 VR6 MPI (BMJ engine).
022906032GJ but from what I’ve read, all 3.2 MPI seem to operate in the same way. I preferred to focus on studying the 032CE since there is an available A2L file for it.

I don’t have any particular coding skills, I just have a very basic general understanding of how an ECU works.

I’m trying to understand the operation of the following functions in my ECU:
   •   Adjustment of intake and exhaust camshafts
   •   Ignition angle calculation
   •   Lambda control
   •   Operation of the intake flap setpoint

Regarding the VVT, I would like to know which maps are involved. I think I found a few, but I want to be sure to find them all.

For the ignition angle calculation, it seems to me that the final ignition angle results from a calculation involving several maps, coefficients, and factors.
I tried to understand through the ME7.1 funktionsrahmen, but there are maps I find in my file that are not described there, not to mention that ignition with a VVT system seems different from what is written in it.
On that note, if someone could tell me the real function of the maps KFZW, KFZW2, KFZWA, KFZWA2, that would be great.

As for the intake flap, I’d like to understand how the associated function acts on it and through which maps ?

youll find most of the answers at s4wiki

NWS for vvt where E means einlass / intake and A stands for auslass / exhaust so the kfnwse for intake cam and kfnwsa for exhaust etc

kfzw is a basis ignition angle / 2 for intake vvt active, A for exhaust

iirc vr6 me7 uses klappe1 for saugrohrumschaltung, should be some kind of KFSU
