Title: DSG Rally Style Launch Control Inside!
Post by: drugward on April 07, 2026, 03:17:01 PM
Hello Nefmoto folks, I've been taking info from this forum for years now and I've learned a lot over the years so I'm deciding to share some forbidden and gatekept knowledge in the DSG tuning world.

TVS has been offering this for a loong while and I haven't seen it shared anywhere else so here we go.

Simplest way I can explain it is as follows:

The stock launch control just jumps up and then holds RPM, I've tested this on a mk6 golf R and you can hear it have a slight bit of torque reduction before it finally settles on the set launch RPM.

The way you get the sound and as a side effect some boost is to change the P and I factor for the rpm limiter used when engaging launch control (These are super easy to find, as they're a few bytes before the brake pressure threshold maps for enabling launch control), doing those changes increases the "bounce" of the rpm limiter but that still isn't enough, the next thing that needs to be done is to increase the amount of torque reduction the gearbox requests and increase the torque ramp for launch control to allow the engine to actually get up to speed and not just taper off near the launch RPM.

Here's a video of the solution applied to the MK6 Golf R, absolutely stock ECU file.
