Title: Trying to make a backup ECU... There is a catch though! Post by: f1torrents on August 19, 2012, 05:01:16 PM Original car/ECU
2004 Audi A4 6sp MTQ (USA Model) 8E0909518AK (APR tune) (I don't want to touch this ECU) Have backup of 95040 EEPROM ready to go. ------------------------------------------------------ Spare/Used ECU 2002 Audi A4 Auto 8E0909518F (Have backup of FLASH ROM.bin) Have backup of 95040 ready to go. (I also have a IMMO AND VIN delete file from this site) --------------------------------------------------- I would like to make a workable ECU as a testing spare for my car. However I can only find variants of the ECU type. 8E0909518AF (2003) ver. 0003 8E0909518AF (2003) ver. 0001 8E0909518AA (2003) ver. 0004 8E0909518AS (2003) ver. 0003 (EU model) 8E0909518BC (2005) 8E0909518F (2002) 8E0909518M (2002) Which one work work "BEST" assuming I cant find my exact ECU part #. It will need to be able to be flashed to the spare ECU and work in my car. This place has been super helpful and I have finally started to try this stuff in real life after reading about it for over a year. Its addictive. :) Thanks for any advice Title: Re: Trying to make a backup ECU... There is a catch though! Post by: f1torrents on August 22, 2012, 10:32:38 AM Flashed the AK file with a KWP2000+.
Flash completed but the ECU is now unreadable. Have a galletto 1260 on order now, as the KWP won't do boot mode. Even though it Claims to. Oh well fun fun fun Title: Re: Trying to make a backup ECU... There is a catch though! Post by: f1torrents on September 08, 2012, 05:20:05 PM Ok so I managed to get back to the original Fbox file and all is good.
I tried several times to flash the AKbox file and it finishes but wont boot the ECU. Of the above files, which one would work with my 2004 Audi B6. Would I be better off using a 2003 file or a 2005 file. BTW weird thing. After flashing the original Fbox file back and not touching the eeprom. The SKC has changed? is this normal? Thanks guys. Title: Re: Trying to make a backup ECU... There is a catch though! Post by: f1torrents on September 08, 2012, 05:35:14 PM So going through 1 at a time.
Tried and no communication. Flash finishes but cannot read ECU data afterword with. AKbox AFbox BCbox AABOX I am flashing the original Fbox back on until I can understand what is happening here. Is it common that no other type of ECU file is able to be flashed? DO you think a 2002 Fbox will just work in my 2004 AKbox car? (adapted and immo sorted of course).. Title: Re: Trying to make a backup ECU... There is a catch though! Post by: f1torrents on September 09, 2012, 08:31:00 AM I have kept at it and still I am not able to change the flash software on this Fbox ECU.
The flash goes to 100% in Galletto in boot mode. Everything seems fine. I cannot get the ECU to communicate after with either Galletto or VAGDASH CAN. Once I put the Fbox back on it works fine? Am I missing something here? Do I need to flash the eeprom to get this to work? I have to be missing a step... ??? Title: Re: Trying to make a backup ECU... There is a catch though! Post by: f1torrents on September 09, 2012, 11:31:49 AM I have an idea but I may just be reaching here..
Do I have to flash the same "box" eeprom to as I am flashing to the flashrom for it to work? ie.. Fbox flashrom --- Fbox eeprom AKbox flashrom --- AKbox eeprom. Is it possible this is why I cannot get another flash to work on this ECU? So far I have left the Fbox eeprom installed and just have the immo turned off. Title: Re: Trying to make a backup ECU... There is a catch though! Post by: f1torrents on September 09, 2012, 02:00:40 PM OK.
I tried the following with no success. I can get ECU DATA in BOOT MODE. Not CPU MODE -flashed the AK box eeprom to the ECU. Took it fine but still No communication in CPU MODE -flashed the NO immo No vin eeprom from a user on this site. No communication IN CPU MODE Title: Re: Trying to make a backup ECU... There is a catch though! Post by: f1torrents on September 09, 2012, 02:07:54 PM Flashed the original Fbox file back.
Kept the AK eeprom file loaded. CPU is fine. It shows my VIN and SKC fine. So weird that it wont take any other type of ECU file. I'm just learning this stuff and its not easy just talking to myself here.. ;D Title: Re: Trying to make a backup ECU... There is a catch though! Post by: f1torrents on September 09, 2012, 02:30:58 PM OK. I found this and it answers my questions.
"All 02 518 binarys are VERY similiar to eachother(many maps are located at the exact same address even, 518, 518M, 518F, 518P), but they differ to the 03-05 binarys. Different boot loader also, flashing an ECU with a bin with the wrong boot loader will brick the ECU."'' At least I got a lot of practice flashing ECU's in boot mode. :D BTW I did get a Pbox file to work... Title: Re: Trying to make a backup ECU... There is a catch though! Post by: Bische on September 10, 2012, 07:17:20 PM That is correct :)
Good thing you got it sorted, hopefully you didnt waste too much time effing around flashing in bootmode ;D |
