Title: Please help, both cars down at this point...
Post by: Surferkirsch on August 21, 2012, 10:43:48 PM
I have 2 audi s4s, both are in not running status, right now i honestly cant afford much more, i fried an ecu about a month ago by hitting the battery feed while it was plugged in to the harness, so i looked and looked and looked and didnt find a replacement. so i said screw it and bought another car. well apparently ABT likes to solder in a new board and put a lock so you cant upload or download tunes, so of course i figured id just remove the board and resolder the chip back to the ecu as it was originally, well now i cant connect to it. boot mode or not. I know im new, there is really no reason to be rude or just pass this by without any help. Ive already asked twice which is why i bought another damn s4, i love these cars, and i need to knwo what ecus i can replace them with because any ME7 8D0 is hard as hell to find. All i need to know is if i buy a ME7.1 4B0 type ecu if i can make it work, or how do i go about making an automatic ME7.1 8D0 work on my 6 spd. I have two completely different setups in each car, both are 2001.5 S4s and i think i might actually lose my mind if i dont get them back on the road soon. Ive litterally been sitting infront of this computer and ecu for about 4 hrs straight now, not winning... Any information would be useful.

dude.  deep breath.  relax.  get an a6 6mt ecu from car-part.com    i'd be surprised if it was more than 100 shipped.
you need to make a bench harness to kill the immo on the ecu.  no way around this.  no easy answer if you want it cheap.

any us s4 box from this page:  http://s4wiki.com/wiki/Generations
or the following a6 boxes:
  4B0 907 551 K   -- '00 6 speed
  4B0 907 551 P   -- '01 6 speed
  4B0 907 551 AA -- '01 6 speed
  4B0 907 551 AK -- '02 6 speed

I was kind of in a similar boat and was looking at A6 ECU for my S4 because A6 ECUs are alot cheaper.
BUT, after some research I found some thread on Audizine talking about how the connectors are different for the A6s after the 00s. Anyone wanna chime in on this?

I guess you are from Europe since you mention ABT. There are several S4 B5 ECUs on e-bay:
http://www.ebay.de/itm/Motorsteuergerat-Steuergerat-AUDI-S4-B5-8D0907551D-/180756058257?pt=DE_Autoteile&hash=item2a15e69091#ht_1802wt_1394
http://www.ebay.de/itm/CENTRALITA-MOTOR-ECU-Audi-S4-2-7T-250HP-8D0907551D-0261206382-/270986296477?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_186&hash=item3f180abc9d#ht_706wt_1160

This is the one that you want to get because 8D0907551D is the first 1024k ECU which is widely available in the US. Just get one, have someone to solder the immo chip to the new one, or disable it and you are good to go.
