Title: Just pulled this TUNED file off my ecu (k-box flashed to m-box), evaluation?
Post by: ddillenger on October 07, 2012, 10:36:43 AM
A little about the car:

2000 MY a6 2.7t m6
710n dv's
piggie pipes
s-flow intake
Bosch MAF
Instrument cluster code p1650

The tune has some sort of launch control, until the car starts moving redline is around 4kish. I'm curious to know if it has been corrected from a hitachi maf for a bosch, as that is what the car has on it.

I'm looking at the file myself, but as I'm still new to this, would like veteran input.

After checking the bin with tunerpro, I have found that mlofs does have an offset of 200, so it's my understanding that the tune has been converted to a bosch maf. Other than that, I'm still trying to determine how aggressive/whos map it is!

Thanks guys for any input!

I looked into it a little more for you. I found that KFMIRL has boost set to 20.5 psi Maximum, but LDRXN shapes the boost to be 18 psi tapering to 14 psi (approximate calculations).

There also appears to be some timing advance in KFZW. 6.25 deg. maximum

Fuel values (KRKTE, TVUB etc.) are identical to stock which says to me that it should be tuned for stock injectors.

MAF values seem kinda odd to me, but there could be a lot of reasons for that. There is an offset for a bosch MAF, but the weird thing is that MLHFM has been scaled even further. I also see very slight differences from stock in KFKHFM, but I am not quite sure why.

This could all have to do with your car being an A6. Maybe someone could weigh in on this?

All in all, it looks like this is a file you would want to use with downpipes, larger intercoolers and high octane fuel (NOT e85). So I guess that makes this a stage 2 or 2+ file.

This file is complete trash.
Whoever tuned this does not understand ME7.

BTS is tuned completely wrong. KFMIRL is just ++ed up for no reason, KFMIOP untouched and so on.

Thanks PRJ. Could you be more specific? The tune pulls strong, but I obviously don't need it causing any damage. What should I look into changing? I've officially read every page of the tuning forum, the tuning wiki several times, and most of the rest of this forum. I have a grasp (tenuous as it is), but could use guidance.

Alright, I have pulled more up with tunerpro, and judging from the NMAX parameter, the launch control is set to 4200rpm until the car starts moving 1.25km/hr (based on VNMX). As all of these values (and more) are taken directly from the tuning wiki, it appears as though the "tuner" (I could post his name if that would help anything) just copied them. It also appears as though the rear 02's are off, while the egt sensors remain on (good IMO-had I known this I would have gutted the cats completely rather than just piggies).

Start from a stock file. That file is beyond repair.
Don't try to sculpt something from a turd, it'll still be a piece of shit in the end.

I don't really have time to break everything down for you.
If you want, you can buy a tune, and I can give you a full explanation of every map that I changed and why I changed it, but I am afraid I don't feel like doing that for free right now, sorry.

I appreciate the input. I don't really care for a comprehensive list of its faults, but I would like to know the reasoning behind the changes.

PM me a price on a tune, I may be interested.
