There is nothing "cheap" about these cars.
If you are looking at purchase price, which at best is like 2k difference, then just forget it.
You are initially going to spend up to 2 grand a month keeping the car running, especially if it is a higher mileage example.

And instead of the 2.7TT A6 I'd opt for the S6 with the 4.2 liter engine. Much cheaper to run and it has actually a little more power than a stage 1 2.7 car.
If you want to tune and play with it (toy), then S4 is the obvious choice, as the weight of the car is much less and the chassis more nimble.

And obviously 6 speed is the only way to go on a 2.7TT.

The 3000 euro A6 will be a piece of cr*p most likely. Especially if it is high mileage and with autobox, you set yourself up for complete failure early on.
If it is a manual gearbox A6 for 2500, then you might want to look at it.

I am in Estonia and here some S4's were recently sold in our club for 3300-3600 euros. They were not perfect, they had a few problems, but that's about what they go for here.
For 5000 you can get plenty of S4's here, and the boat to Stockholm is not much...

P.S.
In my town here in Estonia are 5 S4 avants for sale right now. All around 5000 euros.
I have checked out a couple of them for some people (complete pre-sales check)... you can haggle the price down on at least three of them for sure. Maybe to 4000 euros or so.

So if you decide that you don't want to buy from Sweden, I can help you out here with a full check, so you don't have to buy "eyes closed" and pray.
It is also a lot closer than Latvia and a lot safer than Lithuania ;)

It's amazing what one of these cars can need and still appear to be a good deal. I bought an a6 that needed "just" a clutch. That was true to get it driving, but it had about 100 smaller things that needed to be sorted. The money you save on the purchase price is going to need to be reinvested to get the car up to par with the more expensive models. Definitely do a ppi!

No sedans? All I saw in those links were avants. While I do think that they are sexy properly stanced, I am a bit curious as to their allure.

Ok, if he only wants 2500 for it, then go look at it... it is good value ;)

He can claim whatever. To make 350hp you need meth injection or K04's...
It's goof if it makes 300.
