Title: Abox to Mbox flash. Post by: Normohl on December 10, 2012, 09:29:17 PM So reading up on flashing my Abox, the current tune is Giac is what I am told from PO, but who knows. Found a few stage 2 tunes since I have down pipes. Here is the procedure I have came up with might be wrong so input is needed.
Use vag com in dumb mode Use nefmoto or tunerpro or galleto (have read about all of them on here) to read, backup current tune Flash stg.2 tunes (Mbox tunes with Bosch MAF parameters) Re-code cluster (instrument,adaptation,ch60,read and change to 1025) or should I re-code before flashing? What memory layout do I use? Drive real easy then take some logs to make sure the tunes are running safe. Will re-coding the instrument cluster to 1025 make ESP function, or since I am originally Abox I don't have to re-code? Thanks. Title: Re: Abox to Mbox flash. Post by: ddillenger on December 10, 2012, 11:51:36 PM Mostly correct. Nefmoto and Galletto are both flashing utilities. whereas tunerpro is for editing maps and other parameters inside the tune itself. If your ecu is socketed (as some giac tunes were), you might have a problem reading/writing to it (although many people report success). Try reading your bin and posting it in this thread. If you have a successful read, chances are you'll be able to write as well. As far as instrument cluster coding, that will only prevent a soft code (No engine light, missing data from instrument cluster). As for ESP, you will need to recode the ecu for that. Below is the procedure.

Okay to flash over it? and then on with the testing? Title: Re: Abox to Mbox flash. Post by: ddillenger on December 11, 2012, 02:26:25 PM It's GIAC alright. I'd pull the ecu and see if it's socketed, but If it were me, I'd give flashing a whirl (make sure to be ready to bootmode if necessary).

Post by: Normohl on December 11, 2012, 05:38:32 PM Okay flashed over it, worked awesome car is much stronger now and no CEL, did not recode cluster seems to be working fine. will be looking to test out other stg2 tunes Mbox tunes with bosch maf but I have only found 3 so far...
