Title: Help with EGT codeout...
Post by: ilyafil on December 25, 2012, 09:06:23 AM
Hey, everyone I'm to this and trying to learn to code out my EGTs. Because they're both dead and throw me in limp mode at random.

Here's the beginning: http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php/518766-Help-with-EGT-codeout

I was told I need a 8d0907551m-20120516.xdf file.

Can anyone help me?

Attached (although the adresses I gave you were good).

Once you do it I can update your checksums. Does the file you're flashing have ALS/NLS?

The bits you're looking for are under exhaust gas temperature DTC's.

Now I'm getting somewhere.

Thanks a lot!

You missed the most important one.

To remove EGT's, all you need is CDATR, CDATS and CATR.
The error classes don't need to be touched.

OK, revised. But I can't find the CATR. Here's the file if you'd like to take a look.

CATR is @ 0x192CA

You just lost me. I don't know what the numbers mean. But when I search for parameters nothing comes up for CATR.

Those numbers are the location of the bit that needs to be changed. In tuner pro, right click the xdf drop down menu under EGT DTC's, and click "insert new xdf parameter". Enter the location given (check out the picture I attached), then save. After you're done you can double click it and change it to 0.

Obviously LSB first doesn't need to be checked

That was just the way the new scalar was configured. All I did was enter the name and address.

Oh, OK. Now it makes more sense. Thank you for your help. Here are the files if you care to take a look.

You need to upload the files you started with to make it easier to see what you changed without going bit by bit.

Found it...

Bump to the top. Could anyone take a look at these files and see if checksums are OK?

The checksums in that file are good.

OK TO FLASH.

One more question. Which memory layout do I use? I search and search but come up with nothing. Is there a user guide for Nefmoto?

Yeah, I've read that. I started playing with the software some more and I was able to read the ecu on the 800 memory layout, so I guess i got it. Thanks for all your help.

OK. Loaded the file. Car ran fine, no CEL. Drove it around. Now cranks-no start. Tried to go back to stock file. Nefmoto will not connect. Slow or fast on any baud rate. Did I brick my ECU? Any help will be appreciated!

Connecting...
Starting fast init connection.
Connecting to address 0x01.
Fast init sent, sending start communication request.
Start communication request did not receive any response.
Disconnected

You need to correct the checksums anytime you modify a file. Failing that, the car will run for one drive cycle (sometimes more, depends on where the error is), then fail to start. Disconnect the ecu from the car for 5 minutes, wait for the charge to dissipate, then reconnect it, and flash your stock file WITHOUT STARTING THE CAR (or else you'll have to start again).

I thought you checked them for me. That's why I flashed the file. Sorry, maybe I was confused. Will try removing power. Thanks!

I never saw the first file you uploaded, I just checked the second one. Here is your changed file checksum'd properly for you.

==============================================================================
ME7Check v1.12 (c) mki, 06/2004-05/2012
Checking file C:\Documents and Settings\User1\My Documents\Downloads\stage1_mbox
_91oct_noEGT.bin (size=1048576)
Reading Version Strings...
-> Bootrom Version = embedded in CPU, asume 05.12/05.32
-> EPK = 40/1/ME7.1/5/6005.01//22m/DstC2o/011200//
-> Contents of ECUID data table:
   - '0261207143'         (SSECUHN)
   - '1037360857'         (SSECUSN)
   - '8D0907551M  '       (VAG part number)
   - '0002'               (VAG sw number)
   - '2.7l V6/5VT     '   (engine id)
-> Contents of ECUID data table:
   - 'HW_MAN004'

-> No errors found. File is OK.   *********************

Just disconnect the ecu for 5-10 minutes, hook it back up and reflash. All will be well.

OK. I'll try it again.

It worked! Thank you!

...on to fine tuning.

Nope. Same problem. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. Does the memory layout have anything to do with it?
I went back to a stock file but deleted EGT's. Could you check this one for me.

Here are the file I started with and the no EGT one.

The one I previously attached is good, as is the one below.

Make sure you're flashing the ones I attach, not your originals.

And download ME7check by setzi. Run ALL files through it BEFORE you flash. If it says "error found" that means DO NOT FLASH!

BTW-if the memory layout was incorrect flashing would fail. Use 29f800bb

Yes sir. I'm sure. I'm flashing the correct file. I'll try this latest one now on 800BB layout.

I bricked it for sure now. I bumped the USB port and interrupted the flash. Is my only option to use Galleto with their cable in boot mode? Nefmoto will not work in boot mode. Correct?

If you never cycled the key you can just hit reconnect. If you turned the key off, then you need to bootmode the ecu.
