Title: What do the last several digits on an IC mean? 29f800bb-xxx?

After looking @ a couple examples I figure it has something to do with the footprint, but? Just curious.

Yes and no. I've picked through them looking for specific data, but stopped reading when I found what I was looking for. How about suffixes that aren't covered there? As for the speed, would I be correct in assuming you could substitute a faster speed in place of a lower one, but not vice-versa?
