J-fonz=judeisnotobscure on this site. Why not shoot him a PM and ask? I really doubt he has any sort of encryption, worse case you'd have to bootmode the tune off the ecu initially.

I emailed him and asked him. I feel like i could get my car dialed in much more if im able to do revisions back to back to back.
Any others know how to do this?

If you can read and write the file(or intend on going as far as tooning yourself) you are likely better off talking to JFonz about a custom tune remotely.  save yourself in the longrun.  Or less you are serious about learning to tune this 1 car.

I have a feeling he has some encryption/easter eggs in there that might make it difficult.

Is this a feeling, or a "feeling" (as in you have some info).

No info, I just remember old threads here and a disposition of "nobody better jack my stuff'.

I've seen a few of his flashes with interesting names like one flash only, etc. Was curious if anyone had heard of anything else.

Can I ask a question without incurring the wrath of the board?

What's the general nefmotoer's take on what he's done?

I have a stage 1 jfonz file I pulled off a car my friend was looking at buying, and it's just standard m-box no encryption or weirdness.  Very nice file, really enjoyed looking at the timing tables and kfmiop among other things.  I'd post it up, but out of respect for him I figured I would let his work stay private.

Really? He got his start here by looking at other tuner's files, post it up if you want.

I wouldn't do that without his permission personally.

I agree. Even if he got his start here it probably has his personal flavor of things in it.
Even if you don't agree with what he does you should still have respect for his time and work.
Just my opinion.

Not a fan of this thread

This thread is a bit pointless, IMHO.

Altering any m-box tune is  basically just tuning ,regardless whose the file is, so read about this on 100s of other threads around this site and you're all set.

Heck, after said and done you might decide that his file is not that good after all :)

NEVER ever start with somebody else's tune. You should know (or think you know :) ) what all the changes are in your file..

I 100% agree with this.
I started with the mono lambda file that Phila_dot made for Marcellus but the first thing I did was spend 10 mins copying every map from a stock M Box file.
That way I knew every change from stock because I made them.

I appreciate my file not getting posted up.
I have files posted that are meant to learn from in the tunes section... not perfect but decent enough to start.

For anyone who wants to modify my customer tunes.... I'd prefer it if I did all the modification.
I'll gladly discuss any changes you have in mind, but if you want me to tune the car, please let me do it :)
For revision speed and file switching I currently offer a handheld switcher that allows for email revisions and I’m working to streamline it into a cheaper more versatile tool.

On a side note, I appreciate this forum greatly for the basic tools I have learned here.  I have great respect for all you guys who are pushing the me7 platform beyond the standard that has been held back to for so long.
