Title: Which tool to read DSG files (Me7 R32, ME9 MK5 GTI etc...) Post by: s-company on January 25, 2011, 08:59:30 AM Hello!
Is there a useful tool to read and write DSG Files over OBD? I know Byteshooter can, but are there also others? Best Regards Title: Re: Which tool to read DSG files (Me7 R32, ME9 MK5 GTI etc...) Post by: Tony@NefMoto on January 26, 2011, 07:11:28 PM In theory the DSG controller should support all of the same protocols for diagnostics as the ECU.
So if we know the KWP2000 address of teh DSG controller, the NefMoto ECU Flasher should be able to read and write it. Title: Re: Which tool to read DSG files (Me7 R32, ME9 MK5 GTI etc...) Post by: RaraK on January 27, 2011, 03:50:21 PM I dont know if it works, I am not an owner of DSG. So give it a try if you want. Let us know if you are successful.

maybe there is a better solution out there. BR Title: Re: Which tool to read DSG files (Me7 R32, ME9 MK5 GTI etc...) Post by: RaraK on June 11, 2011, 08:07:41 AM bring this one back, bought a mk5 DSG :)

Post by: RaraK on June 24, 2011, 06:09:09 PM hey rarak, do you have an idea who did that software? looking for your results! not sure, theres some independent tools out there, im assuming this is one, i dont see it being so difficult to read the dsg if i throw a logic analyzer and sniffer on my mpps when reading the fbin out, probably same seed. But who knows...... CAN com's are a little more documented than kwp for sure! Title: Re: Which tool to read DSG files (Me7 R32, ME9 MK5 GTI etc...) I use Byteshooter for r/w DSG and it works well. Title: Re: Which tool to read DSG files (Me7 R32, ME9 MK5 GTI etc...) Why? pro tuners make the stuff everyone "learns" from on here? they just spend more time on things making it perfect rather than a canned tune to get done and sell thats all. everyone tends to specialize on their own cars, so obviously everyones more in depth with their own cars. If i were apr, id spend a few weeks, make good power, then move on to the next car in line. Cant spend ages on 1 car you know...just business. Look clearly the guy knows his stuff but when I see things like KFMLDMX just put to 1200kgh except in the first row/column it makes me wonder.... and as you say this is for my own car and I prefer being able to firstly learn how it all works and secondly be able to play and make changes as I go. Title: Re: Which tool to read DSG files (Me7 R32, ME9 MK5 GTI etc...) Post by: everydayparadise on August 12, 2014, 08:10:18 PM From what I can tell you can't read Dq200 and DQ250 over OBD2, you have to connect it directly to the TCU. I know my Galletto 4 tool shows up when I open EOBD1300.exe. I'm just waiting on some parts to build a cable to connect to the TCU and then I'll see if you can read and write a file. Should be doing that this weekend.

Post by: everydayparadise on August 18, 2014, 12:19:35 PM Just to give an update I was able to read my DQ250 on my 2006 Audi A3 with EODB1300.exe, a custom built harness connected to the TCU, and a FT232RL-Chip cable. This is the files that I read. (All for under $50)

Title: Re: Which tool to read DSG files (Me7 R32, ME9 MK5 GTI etc...) Post by: everydayparadise on August 19, 2014, 04:45:33 PM Ok So I posted the file that I read with my own cable for the DQ250. So here it is.
Parts (All of them I got on ebay) Transmission Connector Pigtail - The part number for the connector is 1J0 927 320 and then you just need to wires that fit. The best way to get the wires it to get a pig tail from a VW round transmission pigtail. There are not a lot of them out there but if you look hard enough you'll find them 12-Volt Lighter to Alligator Clips - I cut off the lighter and just used the Alligator Clips OBD2 100cm 16Pin Male to Female Extension Cable - Just cut the male end off (ouch!) FT232RL-Chip OBD2 Cable - Software EOBD1300.exe (See previous post for the exe) After that I used these images and wired up the cable. I dont know how BS works, but CMD is able only to write DSG via OBD and download the file from the server (virtual read). Title: Re: Which tool to read DSG files (Me7 R32, ME9 MK5 GTI etc...) Post by: everydayparadise on August 25, 2014, 08:41:44 AM Works on early Cxx, but not Exx, Fxx, DQ200, DQ500 etc. Do you know if this is because the software needs to be updated or you need a cable that has a different protocol? On another note, who made "EOBD1300.exe"? Title: Re: Which tool to read DSG files (Me7 R32, ME9 MK5 GTI etc...) Post by: everydayparadise on August 26, 2014, 09:23:12 PM I wanted to give a quick update. I have read my car and have validated that the read was good. I used the EOBD1300.exe to do this. I have made the changes to the file, and now I'm trying to write them to the TCU, but I can't seem to get EOBD1300.exe to write a file to the TCU. I can read the binary file no problem and can identify the DSG, but that's it.

I know .. "buy a real tool" or "buy a spare mechatronics" but I am looking for information about exactly this software. It identifies tcu ,reads flash ,no problem but when I press WRITE FLASH it does nothing. Just says Programming flash... and thats it. Doesn't even give me a chance to select a flash to write. I think maybe there is some trick to get it work at least to select a flash even if it doesn't get to write it in the tcu. If someone have any idea would be great. Thanks |
