Title: C5 A6 ECU into B5 S4
Post by: wildwildwest118 on April 03, 2013, 07:55:11 AM
I have a 2001 S4 6 speed with an APR chipped H box that I'm wanting to replace. My friend has a 2000 A6 6 speed with a stock K box. What would need to be done to make my ECU work in his car and his in mine? If it can be done.

Just install the ecu. As the a6 doesn't have an immobilizer, the keyways match and it'll plug right in. If it were a 2001 you'd have to modify the ecu plug. Softcoding on APR chipped ecu's is locked, so if the ecu is for a tip and the a6 is manual (or vice versa) it likely won't work right.

The a6 has a Bosch Maf, the S4 has hitachi. You'll have make sure to install the correct maf for the ecu.

So since both of ours are 6 speed, I should be able to just swap the ECUs plug and play?

Yes and no. You have to swap the MAF sensors as well.
