Title: possible to install larger flash for tune switching?
Post by: k0mpresd on April 03, 2013, 11:51:21 AM
i tried to double up the flash on an me7 ecu a while ago. did a nandwich style install, connecting all legs except CE, installed a switch between CE on both psop's and CE pad on board. this did not work.
not sure why it didnt work as ive done nandwich installs on other boards with a switch between CE the same way, maybe someone could clue me in?

anyways, my next idea is to install a larger flash. 400bb in place of 200bb, ect. first half of flash would have stage 1 tune for example, next half would have race tune.
would this be possible and with a phyiscal switch to switch between the different files?

i know way back when chris tapp was doing something like this with a switch on the ecu.

like this:

1. There is code on this site to do it in software, but you have to understand code.
2. Have fun with checksums, as if you switch when engine running at some point you will brick the ECU unless you turn them off - but then you need to understand code anyway pretty much.

And honestly, I just thought of this picture when I saw this thread:

It's 2013, not 2001.

For AEB you can just use a double size chip, there is no need for crazy stuff. Maybe you should be a bit more specific, as you started your post with ME7 and then somehow slipped to 29F200BB.

i was only testing it on me7 because i was bored and it was what i had available at that particular moment.
really looking to add this to an aeb ecu as i have a few spare 400bb's taking up space.

Hi,

I use their boards for map switching

http://www.grautec.com/

You can switch maps mid run with no problems.

Cheers,
David

Not on ME7 you can't.
Or to be correct - you can, until you get unlucky once.
