Title: Bench read a 4F0 907 559 ME7.1.1 IMMO 4C W/Challenge
Post by: f1torrents on April 07, 2013, 12:48:25 PM
I got my hands on a 2005 A6 4.2 V8 ECU.
It is immo 4C with challenge.

I have had issues connecting to 4C clusters on the bench as it needs the CANBUS signals to switch it on.
A simple +12 and Ground wont do.

I am wondering if this ECU is the same?
It wont connect or turn on in any way. I opened it and there is no signs of damage. There is no 95040
There is a EEPROM but I don't recall it right now I will have to open it again to see.

Anyone deal with these before?
Its just a testing ECU so not really that important to me.

I have still not been able to get this to fire up.
I have found that on the back there is a sticker with a new part number

4F0 910 560 A  002

So I assume it was either flashed to this new revision or the case was reused, although the rubber seal looks original.

How about a +12v, a GND, then an ignition 12v? You might want to take a look through ELSAWin in order to find the right pins to feed power to.

I have a bench setup where I have flashed and read many ME7 ECU's

I dont think there is any difference in pinouts from
ME7.1
ME7.1.1
ME7.5

I have a separate  EDC15 harness because that has totally different pinouts.
I was thinking it may need signal from the cluster VIA CANBUS because of the IMMO 4C

ME7.1.1 has one slight difference to ME7.1. Nothing CANBUS is needed, trust me.

Ok I have been searching on any differences that my be needed.
Mind you I have no idea if this ECU is even viable. It may just be dead.
I Dont have a car to put it in and even trying to scan it with VCDS is no good.
It wont wake at all.

If there is any difference in me7.1.1 the only thing i can find is maybe

"needed a 2.2K resistor to pin 21
and 5K resistor to boot pin"

Now I don't want to rip my bench harness apart to put in this resistor to find it makes no difference.
As every other me7 ECU worked fine without it.

Anyone have more insight on this?

I've never needed a resistor to get a 7.1.1 into bootmode, and I've done more than I can count. If you have no communication with vcds, I'd lean towards a dead ecu.

What have you got connected to pin 21?

Straight +12v

I'm pretty sure it's dead.

LMK if you want to part with it.
