Title: Me7 bench harness Post by: Jrmillsr on April 18, 2013, 12:38:20 PM Can anyone help me make my bench harness. The color of the wires do not match what the colors are in the DIY that I found. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks Title: Re: Me7 bench harness Post by: cyril279 on April 18, 2013, 12:46:22 PM the color of the wires? connect the relevant pins to the obd connector and power supply.
Read the benchflash s4 sticky. It has all the information you'll need within the first five posts. -Cyril Title: Me7 bench harness Post by: Jrmillsr on April 18, 2013, 02:21:07 PM (http://wiki.obdtuning.com/images/a/ac/VAG_ME7.x.jpg) and (http://wiki.obdtuning.com/images/e/e2/OBD2_Pinbelegung.jpg) You only need K line on OBD plug. Title: Re: Me7 bench harness Post by: ddillenger on April 18, 2013, 08:43:01 PM According to that I'm missing the pin 21 on my ecu connection Pin 21 isn't needed on me7.1, but any vehicle with immobilizer requires it to be powered to read/write. Title: Re: Me7 bench harness Post by: Jrmillsr on April 19, 2013, 08:43:43 AM Pin 21 isn't needed on me7.1, but any vehicle with immobilizer requires it to be powered to read/write. So I need all the other ones that are marked but pin 21? Title: Re: Me7 bench harness Post by: ddillenger on April 19, 2013, 08:54:28 AM I should clarify. You shouldn't have to power pin 21 on an s4, but if you're working with an a6 or me7.5 you will need to supply pin 21 with power. It won't hurt regardless, so you might as well.

I am using a Ecus from mk4 jettasTitle: Re: Me7 bench harness Post by: cyril279 on April 19, 2013, 09:06:47 AM aha. mk4 dubs are def. immo equipped. you might not have the wire in the harness, but it certainly won't hurt to power pin 21. I did.

Title: Re: Me7 bench harness Post by: nyet on April 19, 2013, 09:15:13 AM uh. he means add the wire to the harness
Title: Re: Me7 bench harness Post by: Jrmillsr on April 19, 2013, 09:22:47 AM uh. he means add the wire to the harness Not trying to sound stupid. But how to I just add that wire to the ecu connection? It's not like the OBD side where it unclipped and I could just move itTitle: Re: Me7 bench harness Post by: ddillenger on April 19, 2013, 09:24:04 AM Not trying to sound stupid. I'd upload a picture of where I'm at buy my phone isn't letting me Title: Re: Me7 bench harness Post by: Jrmillsr on April 19, 2013, 09:29:40 AM Oh wow...
I got the rubber piece to pop out.. I feel like and idiot.. Title: Re: Me7 bench harness Post by: cyril279 on April 19, 2013, 10:53:00 AM How can I power it with out it being in the harness? Disassemble the ecu? or, leave the stock connector out of it, and just power the pins. (http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j318/Cyril279/100_0920_zpse1c14443.jpg) I didn't get bootmode success until I added a switch to the pin3 power. the other +12 pins are energized as long as the supply is on. Title: Re: Me7 bench harness Post by: Jrmillsr on April 19, 2013, 12:30:42 PM I made a harness based off of the diagram I posted earlier. I'm going to go test it

Where can I get one like that?Title: Re: Me7 bench harness Post by: cyril279 on April 19, 2013, 12:37:43 PM it's just an atx pc power supply, and this obd connector (http://www.carplugs.com/products.html).
Title: Re: Me7 bench harness Post by: Jrmillsr on April 19, 2013, 01:26:05 PM What's that braided wire though?
Title: Re: Me7 bench harness Post by: cyril279 on April 19, 2013, 05:12:41 PM The wires are the leads from the power supply. The wire sleeving can be purchased from mcmaster carr, it just keeps a job clean.

Fingers are crossed if it doesn't a may try to make one like yours. Title: Re: Me7 bench harness Post by: nyet on April 20, 2013, 09:38:00 AM I hope you have a real ECU connector though..
Title: Re: Me7 bench harness Post by: Jrmillsr on April 20, 2013, 11:28:00 AM I do. That's what caused all my questions from the beginning because it still had every single wire attached to it
Title: Re: Me7 bench harness Post by: ddillenger on April 20, 2013, 11:33:24 AM Take the connector apart and remove all the unused wires. Much cleaner/safer.
Title: Re: Me7 bench harness Post by: Jrmillsr on April 20, 2013, 12:04:28 PM I've done that. I think I am going to go wire by wire and replace all and get a sleeve like his
Title: Re: Me7 bench harness Post by: imnuts on May 10, 2013, 01:19:23 PM Does anyone know how many amps the ECU uses? I have the chance to get a great deal on some 12V power supplies, but I don't know how many amps the ECU uses, so I don't know if what I can get will work. The options I have are 1.7A and 3.4A, both 12VDC output.
Title: Re: Me7 bench harness Post by: prj on May 10, 2013, 02:33:37 PM Either of those will work for a normal ECU, as the ECU does not have anything connected to it.
