Title: O2 recoding 2000 Audi A6 2.7t
Post by: DEVESTATOR5000 on May 16, 2013, 09:12:17 PM
Hey guys! Well im not so new to this forum, ive been lurking around quite a bit on the forum, it's such a wealth of information! I've learnt alot just from reading. I've tried a few tunes on my car. I have one main goal for now though. I need to code or my rear O2 sensor for emission test reasons. I've looked around the forums and found out how,  I still get a p1118 code after zeroing out the necessary values with tuner pro. I also corrected thechecksums and ran it on the car. The car runs fine, I get no check engine light but I still get the code.  I have a2000 Audi A6 2.7t L-box. Does anyone have an idea add to what it could be? You're help is greatly appreciated!

You need to make the appropriate changes to ESKONF to remove that particular code. Search around, it's been covered.

Welcome, good luck.

Thanks for the help.
So I'm researching ESKONF and I see on the S4 tuning wiki on what needs to be changed, how do I set the bits?

Note that the M/L-box referred to on the S4 tuning wiki are for S4 (8D0907551) not A6!!

You will have to locate ESKONF (and figure out the bits) from other sources (not the tuning wiki) ;(

I'm pretty sure the ESKONF bit pairs are the same for all 1024kb 2.7t flashes, but to make the proper adjustments you need to understand it. Best bet, switch to an M box if you have a manual trans or an L box if you have an auto as they have the most support.

Thanks for your input. So I did find ESKONF using a different L-BOX XDF.
Now Im stuck on knowing how to change the values to it. Im learning as I go and dont mean to be a burden but I am having the same issue as phila_dot from the forum hyad with the p1118 code. This was his fix.
=======================================================================================================================================================
I spent a few hours searching before I finally narrowed it down to ESKONF and a few more hours to figure out exactly what need to be done. Bits 6 and 7 need to be set at 10C7A and bits 2 and 3 need to be set at 10C7B to disable post cat O2 sensor heater amplifiers.

Parameter                Location        Original(hex)        Original(dec)        New(hex)        New(dec)
ESKONF              10C7A      00                      0                      C0              192
ESKONF (M box)      10C7B      F3                      243                      FF              255
ESKONF (L box)      10C7B      C3                      195                      CF              207

After flashing the file with this being the only change, the codes are now gone.
=======================================================================================================================================================

Now my question is, how do I access those values to change them? I am using TunerPro free, I try double clicking on ESKONF but it only shows a number.

What file are you using? In order for the L-box XDF to make ANY sense you MUST be using an 8D0907551L file, not 4B0907551L. Then, you have to find ESKONF.

To be honest, you're not providing enough information with which to help you. In addition, you're over your head. If your file doesn't have the same hardware configuration then the values given by phila aren't correct.

Post the file you're working on.

I have attached both stock, and modified BIN's in vase anyone wants to take a look to see if it's correct.

Well this is the XDF im using, which is an M-BOX. I've heard that L-BOX and M-BOX are pretty close, is it true?

While it is true that ONE version of the L-box is very similar to the M-box, you are not using that file. You are using an A6 4B0907551L, which is not even close to the M-box, or L-box (as M and L refer to the S4 flashes, preceded by 8D0, not 4B0). You need to start all over as none of the addresses you changed were correct. The fact that the code is gone is dumb luck. The file attached will work in your a6, and matches up to the M-box definition file. Use this as your base.

Thanks bro! Wow, I feel pretty dumb. So I can make the changes on this BIN, and flash it to my A6 with no issues? I apologize for all these questions.

Yes. Modify that file, and flash it to your car. You can use this for an XDF, I've added a bit and reorganized since posting the one you're using.

Helpful hint, hover over the parameter you want to change, I posted a little note that'll pop up to help you. You're going to want to set ESKONF (L) to 255, not 207 since your car is a 2000.

You're too generous man thank you for all the help. I'm changing the values now, I'll flash it in the morning and let you know how it goes, thanks :)

Just one more question lol, should I leave the value in ESKONF (M) alone?

ESKONF (M) is only used if you're working on an M-box file. You are not, so use ESKONF (L). If you hover over it, it says M-BOX ONLY (yes, I it in caps to express a sense of urgency).
