Title: Tried and Fail Cluster Post by: staycute on May 17, 2013, 10:37:12 AM Ok. So I was trying to do the fis cluster swap on my 04 r32. Used Vag Commander 2.5 to retrieve my login. So I go ahead and do the swap and follow the instructions as listed on vcds. After everything I got a immo activated error on cluster. No worries. I decided to swap back to the original cluster. No immo light or anything looked normal. But now the car doesn't start. The engine cranks but not dice. I'm assuming this is an issue with the cluster now. Anyone have an idea how I can just go back to the original cluster and act like nothing happened?

Ok, going outside to try it. Right now. Title: Re: Tried and Fail Cluster Post by: staycute on May 17, 2013, 11:09:43 AM Ok, no dice. I scanned it and came up with this

End --------------------------------------------------------------------- So i cleared it cycled the key off to on and wen to start it again and same problem. What if i turn the immo off with vag commander would you think that would help? Any ideas? Title: Re: Tried and Fail Cluster Post by: ddillenger on May 17, 2013, 11:22:13 AM Vag commander is barely functional. I use it to play with cluster mileage only. Not quite sure what happened honestly.
Title: Re: Tried and Fail Cluster Post by: staycute on May 17, 2013, 11:26:04 AM Honestly i have no clue either. I'll try the adaptation over again and adapt the keys as well and see what going on. I'll try to turn the immo off as well if that even works. ???
Title: Re: Tried and Fail Cluster Post by: staycute on May 17, 2013, 11:31:02 AM By any chance would you happen to know what the reset ecu button does?
Title: Re: Tried and Fail Cluster Post by: ddillenger on May 17, 2013, 11:35:43 AM It disconnects, then reconnects in order to display changes. Never worked for me, only supported on some vehicles.
Title: Re: Tried and Fail Cluster Post by: staycute on May 17, 2013, 11:55:09 AM And the immo on and off are effective only when you write to the eprom i assume right? CLicking them and then exiting without writing wont do anything.
Title: Re: Tried and Fail Cluster Post by: ddillenger on May 17, 2013, 12:00:34 PM I hope you read, and saved the eeprom contents before you did ANYTHING with vag-commander. It has a tendency to corrupt data.
Title: Re: Tried and Fail Cluster Post by: staycute on May 17, 2013, 12:09:33 PM NOOOO, i just read. :'(
Should i now look for an original eeprom? Title: Re: Tried and Fail Cluster Post by: ddillenger on May 17, 2013, 02:42:26 PM 1J0920927A
Two dumps attached, if yours is similar it's probably fine. If you use these you'll have to adapt the immobilizer. Title: Re: Tried and Fail Cluster Post by: staycute on May 17, 2013, 09:30:55 PM Ok, so nothing went well today. My original cluster now has a def under the odometer when the key is in the ignition on position and now the worse part is that i keep getting a fail message when i try to login. I will not let me log in into the cluster when i enter the skc. I am almost at a complete stop.
Title: Re: Tried and Fail Cluster Post by: f1torrents on May 22, 2013, 05:13:29 PM -Where are you located?
-You dont have a original saved dump from the cluster? -Does anyone know if VAG Commander auto saves a recovery file like vagdashcan? I don't use vag commander. Title: Re: Tried and Fail Cluster Post by: staycute on May 22, 2013, 07:41:28 PM I'm in Woodbridge Nj.
I don't have the original dump.(I was too excited) Vag Commander doesn't Title: Re: Tried and Fail Cluster Post by: MK2-VRT on June 12, 2013, 03:11:37 AM DEF message is normaly al wrong dump in eeprom..You can try to recode the cluster or write the original file to your cluster.
Fail in display is mostly a locktime problem, please make a printscreen from measeringblocks 022 - 023 and 024 ( 17-Instruments ) 024 everything must be 0 - 0 - 0 - 0, when no, when you see 9 - 0 - 0 - 0, let the ignition on for 9 min, then login with the right pin en adapt the cluster to the ecu and match the keys..You need both logins from the new cluster and the old cluster.
