Title: Hi ME7.5 DIY harness help needed Post by: Mo Arif on May 23, 2013, 10:19:18 AM Hi all, I hope someone could help me out here, I've removed the necessary parts of a wiring loom from a mk3 Ibiza Cupra AYP with a narrow band Bosch Me7.5 ECU, i've looked at the following guides:
http://forums.thecarlounge.com/showthread.php?5401894-how-to-build-a-bench-flash-boot-mode-harness-for-your-me7-ecu (http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f367/ReefVTR/e2yvy4a6_zps058f85eb.jpg) (http://s51.photobucket.com/user/ReefVTR/media/e2yvy4a6_zps058f85eb.jpg.html) But the pin out colors on this harness are way different, i've also looked at the reference everyone puts up but it seems certain wires are missing this is what mine looks like: (http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f367/ReefVTR/20130523_180442_zps287edf9d.jpg) (http://s51.photobucket.com/user/ReefVTR/media/20130523_180442_zps287edf9d.jpg.html) Title: Re: Hi ME7.5 DIY harness help needed Post by: Mo Arif on May 23, 2013, 11:26:23 AM Any help would be really appreciated
Title: Re: Hi ME7.5 DIY harness help needed Post by: k0mpresd on May 23, 2013, 12:45:06 PM going by the picture of your connector, all the wires you need are there except 1 ignition wire. and ive seen lots of connectors without that wire.

http://www.nefariousmotorsports.com/wiki/index.php/ECU_Bench_Flashing As you can see my ECU plug from a 7.5 narrow band harness seems different Title: Re: Hi ME7.5 DIY harness help needed Post by: ddillenger on May 23, 2013, 01:37:27 PM The colors are irrelevant. I repin all my harnesses so K-line is yellow, power is red, and ground is black. Keeps things simple. You know the pin numbers, you don't need anything else?

Title: Re: Hi ME7.5 DIY harness help needed Post by: oldcarguy85 on May 23, 2013, 01:47:02 PM it "looks" like 2 fat browns are ground, red w/ white strip is +12v, green w/ graysih stripe is K-line. Because of the orientation of the connector, i can't see the main 12v (pin 3) but it would be the fat wire above (below in this pic) the two fat brown wires. It does appear the IGN+ wire is missing, but it could be hidden. Can you flip the connector over and take another picture?
as everyone already mentioned, the colors are irrelevant. Title: Re: Hi ME7.5 DIY harness help needed Post by: player on May 24, 2013, 07:43:15 AM you can use only one "fat brown"..no need for both;) , then u need the no.3 "fat " pin + , pin 43 k and pin 62 igniton .(no need for pin 21 as i didn't used that never and all worked flawless for all me 7.5 ecus i used)

I've rotated the picture on the hosted site Title: Re: Hi ME7.5 DIY harness help needed Post by: Mo Arif on June 06, 2013, 02:34:39 AM I know the colors are irrelevant but where I'm getting confused is if you you at the rows of pins in the diagram, pin 21 is on the top row, now if you look at the plug I'm working with there is no pins in the top row, the wires are in the row below if that makes any sense, so should I treat it the same even if there's no wires.

If the top row has no wires, your plug is simply missing pin 21. I think others have mentioned that pin 21 isn't always necessary. You could probably move an unused wire to the pin 21 location in your plug, but I'm not sure how to remove the wires from that connector. Ok so I got the power source working for sure, is it just the 1 wire pin 43 'K-Line' that's needed to transfer the data back and fourth ? 1) When I used official registered VCDS to scan the ECU, it only read one part of the ECU, mainly engine fault codes, it didn't read anything else 2) I opened the ECU and located the required chip pin, soldered a wire to it and ground it but still couldn't get the ECU in to boot mode Title: Re: Hi ME7.5 DIY harness help needed Post by: oldcarguy85 on June 07, 2013, 07:17:40 AM 1) When I used official registered VCDS to scan the ECU, it only read one part of the ECU, mainly engine fault codes, it didn't read anything else I'm not sure what you mean by reading parts. Can you give more detail?2) I opened the ECU and located the required chip pin, soldered a wire to it and ground it but still couldn't get the ECU in to boot mode Can you give the step-by-step procedure you are using? It SHOULD be, hold pin to ground with power off, power up ecu, after about 3 seconds release ground. You should then be in boot mode.Title: Re: Hi ME7.5 DIY harness help needed Post by: phila_dot on June 07, 2013, 07:37:41 AM Right lads thanks for all the help, I've got it working without a 1KOhm resistor is that a bad thing? anyway I still have a few questions, I successfully managed to read/flash a Bosch m7.5 ecu, but I've got 2 questions: 1) When I used official registered VCDS to scan the ECU, it only read one part of the ECU, mainly engine fault codes, it didn't read anything else On the bench? If so, of course you can't connect to other modules that aren't attached. Can you give the step-by-step procedure you are using? It SHOULD be, hold pin to ground with power off, power up ecu, after about 3 seconds release ground. You should then be in boot mode. I followed the instructions for Gal 1260: Ground ECU pin: (http://wiki.obdtuning.com/images/thumb/9/97/VAG_ME_7_Platine1.jpg/800px-VAG_ME_7_Platine1.jpg) I used the soldered the spot underneath the chip instead of the chip pin itself as it's indicating that's it's part of that in the above picture. Launch Gal 1260 in boot mode, ground the pin for 3 seconds upon power up, released the ground but nothing came of it. On the bench? If so, of course you can't connect to other modules that aren't attached. Yes on the bench bud, I though it may have been due to it being on the bench and not reading the rest of the modules Title: Re: Hi ME7.5 DIY harness help needed Post by: dfaudi on August 26, 2014, 06:35:08 PM Did you ever get this working??
Im wondering since im in your same shoes. with nefmoto flash 1.9..3.2, On the bench Im able to read from me7 ecus (so bench setup works), verified with 2 of them, but when i connect my me7.5 moments later, im not able to even connect. Did you do anything else to connect me7.5's?? thx |
