Title: ME7.5 Post by: hartklep on February 23, 2011, 02:22:50 PM Hello
I have a faulty 29F800BB in my ECU in my Can I replace it with a programmed 29f800BT ? Thanks Title: Re: ME7.5 Post by: pvl on February 23, 2011, 05:47:12 PM I've read on a forum that this ain't possible and gives erratic problems
with the ecu, if you do try. This BT chip was made to have the bootloader in the back, instead of in the front. BB = Bootloader @ front BT = Bootloader in the back of the flashrom. Most (if not all 1.8T's are written with the bootloader in the front of the flashrom. Get yourself a new chip from the net. Google is your friend ;) They are widely obtainable. In Holland/Belgium it's not that easy, but Germany and the UK have them in stock @ webshops. Lately obtained a few of them via www.batronix.com. Title: Re: ME7.5 Post by: setzi62 on February 24, 2011, 02:19:41 AM The ECU code is only prepared to handle chips with the BB layout for erasing and flashing.
The code contains a table to recognize chipIds 2257,00D4 (256kB), 22AB,00D6,0038 (512kB) and 2258 (1MB). If an unknown chipid is found, the ECU will implicitly use the 800BB layout. If you use an unknown chip/different memory layout, you can't erase/reprogram the chip via K-line, but normal operation of the ECU will be fine. If you like soldering on your ECU, you can use a 800BT. Kind of poor mans copy-protection :D. Title: Re: ME7.5 Post by: hartklep on February 24, 2011, 06:17:33 AM :)
Thanks I will replace the Chip |
