Title: 02 & Egt code out -- almost there! Take a peak!
Post by: THEDLO on July 06, 2013, 08:59:16 AM
Hello everyone! Been reading any and everything related to coding out egts and O2s. I almost have it down however I just need some more pointers.

some details on the ecu and car, its a tip s4 avant with an L box, the current tune on it is MTM stage 3* (really stage -2 here) mods are turbo back miltek, RS4 SMIC, 5bar FPR.

I had talk to a few people and was told that my ecu may be encrypted, and that i probably wouldnt be able to make the changes.

I ignored said people and tried anyways, I had a bin file on my comp that i had pulled for logging, and I downloaded the M box xdf and used both in tuner pro 'slice and dice'

Ive made the changes to the correct scalars, so now all i have to do is checksum and the upload the modified bin to the ECU?

And thats it, thats all I really need to know. If there are any additional pointers please let me know!

Thanks!

David.

Oh and heres a funny as a thank you for the help. (my car pictured)

Ok So this is where I am at, cant get ME7Check to open the .bin file. So i attached my .bin file, Id really appreciate it if you can take a look at it.

Also I have a spare ECU, is there a way to flash that with my current ECUs MTM tune?

Thanks for the help.

I can't in good conscience tell you how to clone your MTM ecu.

I can tell you that me7sum will correct the file you uploaded. I could do it for you, but this is something that you should learn.

youre such a begger that youre actually asking for someone to do this for you on facebook?

thank you, I wanted to mess with my tune a little more with out losing its original form. so one box base MTM, the other my tinker toy.

As for the checksum. I want to be able to do it my self, but it seems out side of my grasp. And at this rate the gas mileage is killing me.. both EGTs are dead. I cant describe how much I would appreciate if you could.....really.

Or at least a little more instruction, I am some what tech savvy, but not enough to go off acronyms that are used in other threads here.

Yup, AZ too.

I posted a how to on AZ, but the gyst is that you need to have the executable in the cmd root folder. That, and .exe isn't needed.

I gathered that, came back with 5 errors, (used the easy checksum GUI) How do I identify the errors where they are?

I when a head and purchased the tuner pro plug in. I'm reading about ME7sum, what I don't know is I have errors that are serious or that they are there because of what the ECU thinks is wrong. Or i just don't understand the nature of errors.

Thank you,

All i get is this

start > run > type cmd > drag and drop me7sum into window > (space) > drag and drop bin file to be corrected > (space) > drag and drop bin file again and then change *.bin file name to desired output file name > press enter

it doesn't get any easier than that, other than physically driving to your house and doing it for you

LOL, this made me laugh :)

Something I didn't know, drag and dropping in-to CMD.  It's rare that happens to me with computers!

Just wanted to say that I doubt you'll get anywhere. I tried to do something similar to a VAST tune (for more ethical reasons than you) and it had hidden maps and so many anti-tamper protections built in I gave up.

MTM software is transparent, modding it is no problem. Issue is they use an encryption board so flashing it back to the same ecu is a no go, and flashing it to a new ecu is unethical. The OP is transitioning to a nefmoto file.

Oh... Ignore me then. Also, screw VAST for dying...

A also have a MTM Stage 3  A Box with, I assume soldered chip in it. Can the rear O2 sensors be coded out just as described in the Wiki despite in is a soldered in chip ? Thx

if its a soldered board it has to be dumped and removed. then a stock chip put back in its flash. the delete added to the file, then flashed back to the ecu.

Thanks

So I could do this to my spare stock A Box Ecu ? Code the rear O2's out and then read/flash the file I have on the MTM A box to the new one ?

Or would it be better just to convert my spare A Box to M code  and flash the Notorious file ? Or should I learn to write a stage 2 file from scratch, challenging but doable I think. It probably would help me to do my own file when I go KO4.

LOL, I am answering my own questions.

The MTM file DEFINITELY has eeprom involvement (at least on the ones I've seen).

Thanks

Start from scratch, please don't write files from one ecu onto another. The only way I'll help anyone with this is if the MTM chip is destroyed afterwards to ensure there aren't any cloned ecu's running around.

^

Thank you

I will take your advise and start from scratch.
There is a incredible amount of wisdom and knowledge on this forum and the Wiki, however it would be nice if it would be a little more organized in a Tuning 101 for us noobs but I am not complaining it is great they way it is.

No, it does not.

I have an allroad MTM ecu sitting here that will only run with the MTM eeprom. Any other eeprom, it starts, then dies like the immobilizer killed the engine. It's chipped, not flashed.

Oh boy, would i like to see those files :)
This kind of thing is generally not the case with that company.
