Title: mk4 cluster swap
Post by: dnenov7 on July 11, 2013, 02:56:23 PM
Hi
I'm about to purchase an MFA cluster for my Jetta mkIV . I deleted the Immobilizer in the original ECU. So when putting the new cluster is going to work without any problem or not ?

I just saw a post on vwvortex that a guy did that and the immobilizer kep flashing when driving the car and the display in the cluster is not working.

I dont have a dump of my original 95040 so I can't do the VCDS adaptation method.

you need pin of old cluster and pin of new cluster to properly adapt cluster and keys.
cluster will work with immo off ecu, but immo light will flash because key isnt adapted to the cluster.

It's also worth noting that you won't be able to adapt the cluster to the immo-off ecu. You must turn the immo back on first.

and you must follow the rosstech procedure exactly. including the recoding of the canbus module to the same coding.

Just by putting back the vin & immo number + pin back in the file will work ?

First i have to get my immo back ... and I don't have my old file

im going to assume immo3. read this: http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Immobilizer_III_Immobilizer_Swapping_%28Instrument_Cluster%29

Yes it's immo 3 , tnx for the site I took a look already.

But I was talking for the 95040 file

And for the pin of the new one I can read it with vagTacho when I install it in the car ?

In case new cluster doesn't want to bind to your ecu, and you constantly get an immo error, instead of switching the immo off, there is another way. You can copy-paste car keys & immo key from old into new cluster dump, and the new cluster will recognize your old ecu as its own, without need to pass the ross-tech procedure. The Ross-tech procedure does the same, it rebinds car keys and syncs immo key between cluster and ecu, it just uses standard methods. It is possible to do the same manually.
