Title: B6 S4 New to Motronic, where to start Post by: rbsileighty on March 08, 2011, 03:14:03 PM I have a B6 S4 (4.2 V8) Avant 6MT and I'm new to Motronic tuning. I've tuned Motec, Haltech, OpenSource (Subaru), and UpRev (Nissan)... but this Motronic ECU is intimidating. I have a generic understanding of coding and a high understanding of engine function. I see there's a flashing tool but I don't see how I can change the code for the flash itself.
I've looked at the ME7 file Tony posted and have read a little, but I'm still lost at how I actually change anything in these files and how I should know how many files I need to change and how they are related to checksums. I may have missed a "how-to" post... I was directed here by a fellow Audi driver/good friend of mine. Newb post... any help or direction would be GREATLY appreciated. http://s4wiki.com/wiki/Tuning Follow the tunerpro link. Download winols also to see which one you like better. Obviously no boost tuning for u, but here are the basics. You will need an xdf. File for your ecu which defines your specific maps Title: Re: B6 S4 New to Motronic, where to start Post by: rbsileighty on March 08, 2011, 04:18:08 PM Start here http://s4wiki.com/wiki/Tuning Follow the tunerpro link. If I want to run turbo's later (strongly thinking about it), can I control boost via the same way B5's do? If I want to run turbo's later (strongly thinking about it), can I control boost via the same way B5's do? It's the main problem to get this data ;) Furthermore ME7 and up is much more complicated as it's torque structure based rather than the ALPHA/N, MAP, MAF based structure most Motorsport ECUs like Motec,Haltech s.o. use. You will not be able to control boost with your ECU as boost control is not part of your ECU Software. To get started read this http://www.nefariousmotorsports.com/forum/index.php?topic=424.0title= and this (bit hard to understand if you don't speak german though :)) http://www.nefariousmotorsports.com/forum/index.php?topic=400.0title= Good luck with the further research. Title: Re: B6 S4 New to Motronic, where to start Post by: Tony@NefMoto on March 15, 2011, 05:09:11 PM First, figure out how to read the file on your ECU.
Second, find tuned files to compare your stock file to. Third, test flashing new files to your ECU. Fourth, try to get or find XDF or OLS definition files. Fifth, sweet talk spen into adding support for generating definition files for your ECU. Sixth, figure out how to correct the checksums in your ECU files. Seventh, change stuff, write new stuff to ECU, break something, repeat. |
