Title: IMMO PIN from A3 cluster
Post by: Iqbad on August 25, 2013, 09:58:53 AM
Hello, this is my first post here. I'm a newbie to working with clusters, so please excuse me if this is somehow a stupid question. My 1996 Audi A3 instrument cluster has stopped working (or it works from time to time only). I found a working cluster on a junk-yard but it was unfortunately not of the exact same type. I do however believe that both are with IMMO 2 judging from information on rosstech website and the numbers displayed when i read data with VAG-COM.

When I connect with VAG-COM to my original cluster the following is shown:

And when I connect to the new cluster it shows me:

So far so good. I now wanted to extraxt the PIN code from the new cluster so I would be able to actually use it in my car. I borrowed VAG-TACHO from a friend, and to read from the old VDO was not a problem. However, the new one "UN4", was not included as a supported cluster in VAG-TACHO.

So I then tried to read the EEPROM with VAG-TACHO and my question is now:

How can I find the PIN code from this extracted data? Is it possible?

I would be much greatful for some help.

Best regards, Eric, Norway.

Hello Eric,

You read the tacho wrong, read it again, or with another tool.

Its both immo 2.

Or when you buy a vdo tacho, post both dumps and i copy your transponder and immo into the new instruments, than its plug and play and you dont need to learn the keys.

Regards,

Stefan, Holland

Thanks for your answer Stefan.

I can see that some data seems to be currupt in the file i attached, but I thought that as long as the hex-values are ok it would be possible to find the PIN if you know where to look. What tool would you recommend to extract the data from this UN4 - cluster? Can the tool found on this website also extract data from clusters and not only ECUs?

I think its cheaper to buy a second hand cluster ( VDO ) than buy another equipment for reading this tacho.

 :D
pin code is not in the cluster
it is enough to replace 1x1
