There are a few minor errors in the xdf. Most of it is correct.

This file crossloads with the 018R as well, and is very similar to the other 12v flashes. This is 100 percent my work, and should not be used commercially.

both of the optimal ignition angle maps dont show up right. the RPM scale is off too. just a heads up. good work though man!

DD - spoke to you a while back about the NWA VVT and variable intake controls info I was looking for on the 24v/R32 ME7.1.1's which are not on the 551's - is this a hybrid Motronic/ME you've done or is it the mk4 12v which we never got here (i.e. are the 12V mk4's ME from the factory)?

Yes, the 12v here from 2000-2001 was ME7.1, 512kb.

I'm looking at using this file for my 2000 Golf GTI VR6, but I'm not sure if the xdf is right for my car, I get strange readings on one of my maps that I don't understand. In the ignition angle map there is a big change from 2000 to 4000 RPM is this from the intake changeover valve being closed? I ask because I took mine out and now I'm trying to make up for the change with my tune. Also would you know which of these would disable the SAI?

In order to verify accuracy you must use the xdf ONLY with the file posted.

OR, be able to validate and correct addresses as required. Good job not just assuming it was right. That's a good start.

Can you point me to a thread that would explain how to do that? I can't seem to find any definition files for a 12v VR6 except this one, and making or verifying an xdf is a little beyond my current skill set. Is there a thread that dumbs it down a little further because most of what I read on making a definition files I don't quite understand.

There really isn't a way to make it much simpler. I have covered this at least 10 other times, but the gist of it is you need to be able to locate similar patterns in raw hex, comparing locations of known maps in a similar file, and locating these in YOUR file.

It's not a simple matter.

I've been doing a lot of reading about hex, and thus far all I've been able to learn is how to convert hex into a number, but all of those numbers are meaningless to me because I don't know where they belong or what they have an effect on. I have a desire to learn, but really don't know where to start. This is the .bin that I pulled out of my car (should be factory tune) I've also got a .bin for my spare ecu and that one comes up the same as the one that I posted.

This one is very easy. The file I posted is just a different version of the same software. All you need to do is flash my file to your ecu, and use my xdf.

For learning purposes, go into my file in a hex editor. Go to address 0x16531. That is the start of KFZW. Open your file. Look for the same pattern. It is 0x164BD.

I think the biggest problem I'm having is figuring out the address. I don't see anything that looks like 0x164BD on my hex editor. Maybe this is so easy nobody thinks to post about it, but I can't figure out where the address's are in the hex. I know these questions probably seem ridiculous, but I swear I have searched all over and still don't understand what It is I'm looking for

Ok so I was working on my file a little more tonight (mainly trying to learn to run tunerpro) and I noticed some differences in our files when I started using the compare feature. Is this what they mean by the offsets are wrong? If so how do I go about adjusting them. Is there any way to select the map I want, and see where it is in the hex like you can in WinOLS? Also, would it be best for me to start a new thread to ask these questions or would I be best leaving it here?

You can't compare two different files. They will be HUGELY different even if the calibrations are the same. I suggest getting used to winOLS.

Oh yes - I keep forgetting you lot got the ME version of the 12V VR6 on your mk4's, ours were 24v only! My bad!

The ols I have is for me7.1 12v
