Title: S4 def file possible for A6 bin?
Post by: smeege on March 20, 2011, 08:17:58 PM
Does anyone know of any S4 ecu definitions that work for an A6 bin (or a 4B0907551K def)? I've tried using s4 defs I've found on here, but things don't look quite right to me in tunerpro or winols when I load my bin. Some maps drop off sharply at odd rpm. I suspect is has something to do with the initial address offset that I've read about in several of Spen's posts.

After looking around, I saw that APR listed the '00 S4 Abox and my 4B907551K as their same file. I tried flashing a 8D0907551A to my ECU to see what happened, and got a no-start. Using VCDS, it showed me a 8D0907551A in the ECU screen, and it seemed like it was working. Flashed back to my original file, and my car started. Was there something simple I may have overlooked?

Btw, Tony your program works fantastic!

The 8D0907551A has not implemented the immo3 functionality as far as I can see,
but I believe that your 4B0907551K works with this type of immobilizer.
If you flash the 8D0907551A image, your immo won't let start the car since the ecu
does not authenticate.

The North American S4's didn't come with Immo, so none of those files will work with your ECU unless you disable the immobilizer.

If you sweet talk spen, it shouldn't be hard for him to added support for your ECU. All 2.7T ECUs are essentially the same, it's just that each ECU version shifts the maps and constants around to slightly different locations.

Ok, I thought the immo3 info was just on the 4k serial eeprom chip, like the one I transferred to a used ECU recently. (Thanks again guys, for the help on that.) I assume there is something in the flash file that checks the immo info on the other chip.

That said, AFAIK, my car does not have an immobilizer on it, as there is no light on the dash. I think they were optional in '00, 01, I have worked on a few 2000 A6s with immobilizers, and they have the light in the cluster. The A6 ECU# changed at '01.5, to 4B0907551AA, maybe this was when the immobilizer was implemented?

I thought about asking Spen, but it sounds like he's a pretty busy guy. I was hoping to find an easy work around.

Edit: I'm currently using a S4 M-box bin on my A6 6spd (originally 4B0907551K) with a Hitachi MAF conversion. My brother's A6 is now on same file, except converted to Bosch MAF. This is an ideal work-around, since the M-box is the most widely supported ECU I've found here.
