Title: 1998 Audi S4 ecu pinout
Post by: SorinRS4 on March 24, 2011, 07:43:34 PM
Hello all, I don't know if I am in the right section but I'll give it a shot. I have a euro version 1998 audi s4 and I need the ecu pinout because I want to connect a aem f/ic 8 piggyback system. I would also like to know if I can increase the rpms to 7600 by flashing the ecu if the piggyback is not able to do that. Sorry for my noobness and for my english if it is bad....

The 1998 Audi S4 pin out should be the same as the 2000-2002 ECU pin out which is posted on the forum.

You can change everything by flashing the ECU. The 1998 S4 ECU may not support flashing over the OBD port though.

Thanks, I've read on the forum that the s4 doesen't support OBD flashing, it has to be connected to a powersource and another few cables to flash it. My question is, will it make a difference if I flash it to stage 3 + the piggyback or should I leave it stock and just wire up the piggyback....

You can still flash the ECU in boot mode with something like KWP200Plus or Galletto.

Why do you want to run the piggy back instead of just tuning the ECU?

Because I can not make dyno logs of the car because the dyno is located 300 miles away from where I am (Romania), so it would have been a pain in the ass to work like this with s4 tuners from america. Besides I am going to put 660cc bosch injectors because I converted to gt2860 turbos. Besides that I bought the piggyback really cheap from a friend so now there is no way back as he is my tuner. I'm still asking you, should I flash the ecu or leave it stock if I have a piggyback.... Thanks
P.S. here I have my build on audizine http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php/400849-Started-my-project.....-gt2860-S4?highlight= and here on a romanian forum (pics included in this one) http://www.dragracing.ro/forum/index.php?topic=747.0 I want to run at least 11.5 on the 1/4 mile on stock internals.

I would recommend flashing the ECU. With a flashed ECU you can remove any limits the car has for RPM, air flow, boost pressure, etc.

Ok, what do I need to flash the ecu ? I just installed the aem f/ic 6 clamped the maf, installed 650cc bosch injectors, tuned the car, and now it pulls like a freight train. The only problem is with my throttle body, something is wrong with it. When I accelerate the car from ~2500 rpms it just would now pull like when I accelerate it from 3500, from 3500 rpms its insane.... Maybe it has a limitation to the thottle body that it would not let it go like that from below 3500.... And I would also want to increase rpms to 8000 because I want to control the rpms from the piggyback. Is that possible ? Vids coming soon....

Just spend some time reading and don't ask detailed questions you can easily find answers to yourself.

Everything is possible and this info is already on the forums here or http://s4wiki.com/wiki/Main_Page

Get tunerpro software
Download XDF file for M-box
Download .BIN file for M-Box
Get Cheapo ebay vag-com cable that works with nefmoto software
Get checksum plugin (about the only thing you might have to pay for 10 euro)
Get logging software, EcuX is the best but it is paid for...wink..wink.
And you can tune/flash.

Tuning is somewhat of an art that you have to learn yourself.

The ME7 ECU controls throttle body angle based on desired load. If the ECU detects that more load is being generated than is desired, it will close the throttle body. This is why it makes more sense to tune the ECU instead of running a piggy back controller that fakes signals to the ECU.
