Title: Field at 0x142 address in EEPROM files
Post by: tbm on November 24, 2013, 11:52:33 AM
Hi everyone,

Does someone know what data is contained at 0x142 address in EEPROM? Some files contain all 0 there and some contain somewhat ID like following 8E0909018A.

Thanks in advance!

Regards.

142 is the software ID. Some files have it, some don't.

Is "software ID" for eeprom or for flash?

Sorry, should have clarified. It's the ID of the flash content. Again, not all e2p's list it, and it's re-written when you change the flash anyway. Do a bit of searching and you'll find my .kp map pack for the ME7 e2p.

So, if I upload another flash file the car might not start due to different ID of flash content. Am I right?

Why I'm asking about this: I have ECU from AWT engine with 4B0906018DJ and eeprom with not nulled "software ID". I've uploaded file 4B0906018CH into the ECU and a car didn't start. After that I uploaded eeprom from my HN ECU with nulled "software ID" and the car started. It interested me and I decided to find out with this - why.
