Title: Motronic 2.3.2 coding plug
Post by: vwnut8392 on December 04, 2013, 01:47:40 PM
i've been curious about the coding plug beside the ECU that is normally used to enable the speed limiter in the american URS4/URS6 cars. i noticed that it has more than just the 2 pins used for the speed limiter. after some reading on other versions of older motronic about fuel and timing map switching. does anyone know if this connector allows switching of the timing maps? what makes the ECU reference those other timing maps? is it possible to switch to these other maps through the coding plug or are these maps referenced based on fuel economy? what i mean by fuel economy is like if a lower octane fuel is put in the vehicle and there is knock does the ECU refer to a less aggressive timing map?
